Nonprofit Collaboration

Nonprofit Collaboration

Guest post by Craig Zablocki, nationally recognized speaker and consultant.

We're bringing Craig to Kansas City on August 3 to talk how to collaborate instead of compete! Click here to learn more and save your seat.

Why should nonprofits care about collaboration?
All nonprofits have a similar purpose; to do good and to help people. There’s underlying principles that we all share. When we come together, we can accomplish more than we ever could individually, and in a more productive, efficient way. If we combine our resources, we can affect more people. You just have to go about it in a creative way. The workshop on August 3 is going to be experiential and hands-on. You’ll learn about yourself, and about how to be more bold in your collaboration. We’ll take a concept that has always been done and say “what prevents us from trying something new?”

What are some of the biggest concerns that you hear from nonprofits regarding collaboration, and how do you address those concerns?
One of the root causes that I see is the conflict between personal reputation and the mission of the organization. When approaching collaboration, there is a big distinction between putting the importance on personality versus purpose. Is your concern about you, or is it about the organization’s purpose? When we start aligning for the purpose, we’re making decisions for the right reasons.

What are you most excited for when you come to Kansas City?
I know that the audience in August is going to bring so much passion for the good work that they are doing. I’m excited about how I can help add creativity to this passion, so that these organizations can become more effective and purposeful. Best of all, we’re going to have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs. You’re going to feel good when you leave at the end of the session.
