SUMMARY:AANHPI Nonprofit Roundtable | November 2024
DESCRIPTION:Attention AANHPI-identifying nonprofit professionals AND allies!\n\n\n\nWhether you are a first-generation\, 1.5-generation\, second-generation\, third-generation AANHPI immigrant/refugee or if your family has been living in America for decades\, as an AANHPI-identifying individual\, you likely have much experience navigating the beautiful differences and complexities of American\, Native Hawaiian\, Pacific Islander and Asian cultures.\n\n\n\nWe warmly invite AANHPI identifying nonprofit professionals and allies to our November Roundtable Potluck. Cuisine is such a central part of AANHPI culture\, so bring a cultural dish to share during this Thanksgiving season! We will network over delicious food and conversation! \n\n \n\nSession Outcomes: During the Thanksgiving season\, AANHPI-identifying individuals and allies will build bonds with other peers over cuisine\, which is an incredibly important part of AANHPI culture. Thanksgiving is uniquely an American holiday that is typically not celebrated in some of the cultures of many AANHPI-identifying individuals' families of origin. Many AANHPI-identifying individuals living in America have had to uniquely bridge the celebrations of American\, Native Hawaiian\, Pacific Islander and Asian holidays. Every day\, AANHPI-identifying individuals are challenged to embrace the unique norms\, traditions\, paradigms and perspectives of the often vastly differing cultures.\n\n \n\nFacilitator: \n\n\n\nJennifer Tung Alexander\, is the founder of Optimize Passion LLC\, a nonprofit leadership consulting firm. With 13 years of experience\, she specializes in coaching passionate founders new to the nonprofit sector. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management. She has served over 25 health and human service nonprofits\, focusing on board governance\, administration\, fund development\, and program capacities. Jennifer\, a second-generation Chinese American fluent in Mandarin\, is dedicated to cultural empathy and bridging understanding. She also founded Fountain of Life\, a senior community center\, and serves on the Advisory Council for the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City. Jennifer resides in Cass County with her husband and four children.
