DESCRIPTION:For more than 60 years\, nonprofit leaders\, fundraisers and donors have relied on the comprehensive giving data in Giving USA: The Annual Report on Philanthropy. The research in this annual report estimates all giving to charitable organizations across the United States.\n\n\n\nDr. Patrick Rooney shares that coveted first look at giving data for 2019 and provides critical observations and interpretations about the state of philanthropy in the United States. Dr. Rooney is Executive Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Professor of Economics and Philanthropic Studies at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.\n\n\n\nThis will be Dr. Rooney's 15th year of presenting the Giving USA report in Kansas City. Due to social distancing guidelines\, and to allow as many people as possible to attend\, the presentation will be virtual. Following Dr. Rooney's remarks\, there will be a panel discussion with local nonprofit leaders and funders. Panelists include:\n\n\n	Cris Medina\, CEO\, Guadalupe Centers\, Inc.\n	David F. Oliver\, Attorney\, Board Member\, Francis Family Foundation\, Trustee\, Murphy Charitable Fund\n	Marla Svoboda\, Chief Development Officer\, Rose Brooks Center\n	Gwen Wurst\, Sr. Philanthropic Adviser\, The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation\n\n\nThe panel and Q&A session will be a forward-thinking discussion on how the current climate is impacting philanthropy right now. We will explore lessons learned from previous recessions and what the future holds for the nonprofit sector.\n\n\n\nA program of the 501(c) Success National Speaker Series.  This series brings prominent thought leaders to Kansas City to discuss the latest nonprofit research and trends.\n\nPresenter:\n\n\n\nPatrick M. Rooney\, Ph.D.\, is the Executive Associate Dean for Academic Programs\; Professor of Economics and Philanthropic Studies at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University.
