Volunteer Opportunity

Offer Valid: 08/26/2019 - 12/20/2019

May I Have Your Attention Please? Your attention - that’s all it takes to have an impact on the life of a young child. The children at Growing Futures Early Education Center, a Head Start program serving the Johnson County area, thrive on the attention of caring adults. Your life will be enriched, too, when you volunteer your time as a Classroom Assistant. You’ll have the opportunity to support teachers as they guide children through daily activities and routines during these critical early years. You will work one-on-one with children as you encourage them to make positive choices, “use their words” as they learn important social skills and cheer them on as they engage in interactive learning in the classroom or on the playground. You’ll be asked to help ensure that children are properly supervised at all times and take appropriate safety precautions for children’s well-being; a staff member will always be present. But mostly you’ll be giving your time and attention to children when they need it most.
Opportunities to assist in the classroom are available Monday through Friday mornings between 8:00-12:00 for 1, 2 or 3 hours; and Monday through Friday afternoons from 3:00-5:30.

Volunteer Requirements:
Must be at least 14 year old
Provide recent Negative TB test result
Provide recent Health Assessment
Agree to Local and National Background check
Must enjoy children!
