Home Repair Project Leads
HopeBUILDERS serves older adults and individuals living with disabilities, including veterans, by providing accessibility and home repair. Through our projects we help homeowners age in place or remain in the home of their choosing. We envision a safe, accessible and healthy home for every Kansas Citian.
Volunteers with construction skills and a passion for improving the lives of people in need throughout Kansas City founded HopeBUILDERS in 2000, completing their first home repair project in October of that year. Our dedicated volunteers and staff have completed 800 projects since 2000, serving more than 700 families. In fact, volunteers’ hours total 7,000 per year.
HopeBUILDERS is looking for volunteer Project Leads to coordinate and complete home repair and accessibility projects in the Kansas City metro. These projects could include building wheelchair ramps, siding and window projects, gutter repair, door replacements, or even electrical or plumbing needs as the Project Lead is comfortable and/or qualified to do.
Overview: The Project Lead is a volunteer with a heart for serving the community using their construction skills. The Project Lead has general responsibility for scoping pre-selected client project(s), determining the resources needed and then organizing volunteers to accomplish these projects. The Project Lead will coordinate with HopeBuilders on the extent of work to be performed considering available funding and resources. During the work, the Project Lead will coordinate with the client as needed to answer questions and confirm the project will meet their needs. Experienced project leads are available for training and as a resource.
Time commitment: Complete at least one project every two months, with additional hours of planning and preparation time per project. Projects may be performed on weekdays or Saturdays.
