Join the Board of Mid Coast Radio Project, DBA KKFI 90.1 FM!

Offer Valid: 07/05/2023 - 09/30/2023
Help advance the mission of the region’s independent, non-commercial community radio station.
Founded in 1988, KKFI has been the Kansas City area’s independent, noncommercial community radio station for over 3 decades. We seek to stimulate, educate and entertain our audience, to reflect the diversity of the local and world community, and to provide a channel for individuals and groups, issues and music, that have been overlooked, suppressed, or under-represented by other media.

KKFI’s Board of Directors manages and controls the property and business of KKFI; sets, provides direction for, and helps implement policy; and approves and monitors the Station budget. Every Board member becomes a Board liaison for at least one standing or ad hoc committee.

We have two positions on our current 14-member Board to be filled in October. We're looking for individuals with an affinity for the station’s mission and a willingness to become engaged in helping KKFI grow and prosper.  KKFI is committed to diversity and affirmative action. Members of underrepresented communities are encouraged to apply. Deep connections in the broader community would be a plus. An annual financial contribution is expected, but no minimum amount is mandated

KKFI’s Board meets monthly on the 4th Wednesday; 5:30-7:30 PM via Zoom. A standard term of board service is 3 years, however our two upcoming positions are for partial terms to serve from October 2023 to April 2025.

KKFI 90.1 FM is a labor of love, owned and operated almost entirely by its volunteers. Certain decisions, including who sits on the Board of Directors, are voted upon by our Active Members - “shareholders” who have qualified through regular service to KKFI as volunteers.
