Give 5 Volunteer Match Program

Offer Valid: 02/24/2023 - 03/24/2023
Interested in learning more about volunteerism and connecting with multiple nonprofit organizations? Join the Give 5 Program!
The Give 5 Volunteer Match Program is a feel-good, social engagement program that connects skilled, passionate retired (or otherwise have the time to commit) older adults with meaningful volunteer opportunities at select nonprofit organizations.

Participation in Give 5 requires commitment to five day-long classes and nonprofit site visits, three to five optional evening networking events, and a graduation ceremony, all spaced throughout April–June of 2023. MARC’s 2023 Give 5 program will focus on connecting participants with nonprofit organizations that work towards healthy, vibrant and age-friendly communities.

Each Give 5 class experience allows participants to learn about public and community service trends and “taste test” a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and find a role that matches with their passions. As a part of the Give 5 classes, retirees meet new people, find camaraderie and friendship, learn more about their community and have fun! Participation in Give 5 is free of charge and lunch will be provided each class day.

We are currently recruiting participants for a Thursday OR Friday cohort this spring:

Class Dates (Thursday / Friday Cohort):
  • April 6 / April 7 Introduction to Give 5
  • April 13 /  April 14 Social Determinants of Health
  • April 27 / April 28 Inclusion in Community Service
  • May 11 / May 12 Civic Engagement 101
  • May 18 / May 19 Building Vibrant Communities
  • June 2 (note the Friday date for both cohorts)
If you are a 60+ resident of the Kansas City region located in Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray counties in Missouri and are interested in participating in the Give 5 program, please review and complete the volunteer sign up form at marc.org/give5. Applications for the spring Give 5 cohorts are due March 23, 2023. Class spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Classes are held from 9:00-4:30 at the MARC offices at 600 Broadway Blvd, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64105.
