Pilgrim Center Seeks New Members for Board of Directors!
The Pilgrim Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on preserving the Pilgrim Chapel as an open space in midtown Kansas City where community members can connect, work together, and play together. We are seeking new members for our Board of Directors who are passionate about community building, the environment, conservation, running for exercise or sport, youth programming, and bringing people together on common ground. We need board members with the following skills: strategic planning, event planning, marketing, graphic design, web design, facilities management, fundraising, and historic preservation.
 
The Pilgrim Center Board of Directors as a whole is responsible for:
 
  • carrying out the mission of the organization
  • strategic and organizational planning
  • ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management
  • fundraising and resource development
  • approving and monitoring the Pilgrim Center's programs and services
  • enhancing public awareness of the Pilgrim Center and its programs
  • ​evaluating its own performance as the governing body of the Pilgrim Center
Each individual board member is expected to:
  • know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
  • regularly read and understand the organization’s financial statements
  • serve as advocates and ambassadors for the organization
  • attend Pilgrim Center events whenever possible
  • identify and secure the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the Pilgrim Center to advance its mission
  • give a meaningful personal financial donation
  • identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s standing
  • prepare for, attend, and participate in monthly board meetings
