Accounting Assistant 

Summary 

Alpha Phi Omega is a vibrant 93-year-old 501(c) 3 membership organization in the collegiate community service industry with more than 375 chapters spanning North America. Preparing campus and community leaders through service, APO is the leading resource for chapters and members providing networking, education and development of leaders through shared connections. 

The Accounting Assistant is considered a full-time position with 30 hrs. per week. This role assists in the payables, receivables and billing processes of the Accounting department at the national office as well as other special projects when needed.?This role will have communication with varying levels of contacts within the organization as well as external partners.  

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Process online credit card receipts and ACH deposits daily via batch upload or manual entry 

  • Prepare and perform remote back deposits 

  • Daily entry of all cash receipts into accounting software 

  • Routine weekly and monthly account reconciliations 

  • Enter and process weekly payables 

  • Tracking and routine follow up of outstanding receivables 

  • Prepare invoices as needed 

  • Assist with yearly audit preparation 

  • Assist with tracking and communication regarding tax filings within the organization 

  • Maintain organized record keeping and filing 

  • Assist with other accounting and administrative tasks as needed

  • Demonstrated ability to support and function in a team environment 

 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must be detail oriented and organized 

  • 3 years of experience in accounts receivable/accounts payable 

  • Ability to work independently  

  • Knowledge of SAGE Peachtree accounting software and Excel spreadsheets  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 

  • Ability to identify discrepancies and problem-solve  

  • Proven internal and external interpersonal and communication skills
