Johnson County Christmas Bureau helps 10,000 to 12,000 low-income Johnson County Kansas neighbors each year in December by distributing: food; children's clothing; winter coats; children and adult holiday gifts; personal care items such as laundry detergent and soap; books; and more. We also distribute items to nursing home residents on Medicaid. This is a great position for anyone who has a passion for helping neighbors and enjoys a small office setting.
We are seeking a part time Administrative Associate (AA) for our 2 person staff. The schedule will be 4 days a week for an average of 20 hours per week. The exact hours are open to discussion. The AA works closely with the Executive Director and interacts with our Volunteer Staff of around 150 people. Previous experience working in an office and/or similar position is required. Fundraising experience will be a plus.
FLEXIBILITY: We can offer flexibility to attend kids functions, take vacations and take time off for other reasons on a periodic basis. The office is very informal. We office in a historic house in Merriam Kansas.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Executive Director in all of the following: preparing for meetings including putting together meeting notices and packets; drafting grant applications; maintaining various excel charts; planning the annual fundraising events which include an auction; sending monthly newsletters; social media fundraising; and other tasks. The AA will also be responsible for: picking up the mail; making bank deposits; obtaining authorization to pay bills; forwarding accounting information to the bookkeeper. putting together surveys in Constant Contact; sending thank you letters to all donors; answering phones; greeting visitors to the office; communicating with volunteers on select issues; and various other matters.
COMPUTER SKILLS: You must be comfortable working on a computer and learning new software. We need someone proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite including word, excel and Microsoft One Drive. You need to know or be able to quickly learn Constant Contact. The ability to use Access is a plus. Proficiency on social media is a plus.
SECOND JOB ISSUES: We prefer applicants who do not own their own business that they are trying to develop and/or who do not have a second job that might interfere with the AA position. Another part time position which will not interfere is acceptable.
COMPENSATION: Hourly based on experience and knowledge level. One 20 hour week paid vacation.
