Coordinator of Sections & Continuing Legal Education
Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) is looking for a Coordinator of Sections & Continuing Legal Education (CLE) to join its talented professional staff team. Applicants must have a positive, friendly demeanor and strong communication and project management skills. They should be professional, self-sufficient, extremely organized and find personal pleasure in improving the lives of coworkers, our members and the association as a whole. Must be great with details, have experience providing exceptional customer experiences and thrive in a fast paced environment. Computer proficiency on many platforms is required. Applicants should have ability to apply management, business, and professional skills in coordinating program projects with lawyer volunteers. A successful background, criminal and credit check is a prerequisite.
Responsibilities of the position include scheduling and sending notices for meetings, tracking RSVPs, responses and attendance, communicating catering needs, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, handling basic bookkeeping and sending invoices, preparing basic communication and updating existing documents, providing support for Law Week events comprised of Ask-a-Lawyer Telethon, Gold-E-Locks Mock Trial and Naturalization Ceremony, providing support and coordination for the Annual YLS Golf Tournament, providing support and coordination for the Annual Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair, providing assistance with software and website updates as needed, provide support to the annual Bar Leadership Academy, (assist in setting the schedule; developing marketing materials and applications; coordinating communications; and attending all sessions), assist in the creation of CLE marketing pieces, including flyers and online marketing campaigns, set up events in database and process registrations, assist in seeking accreditation, collect and disseminate materials, create rosters, evaluation forms, set-up, and provide check-in for live programs, process refunds and vouchers, assist in regulatory reporting for both live programs and On-Demand programming. In addition, this position provides support for and attends the annual Bench-Bar & Boardroom Conference and Annual Meeting. The Coordinator should recognize key areas in fields of law offered by KCMBA CLE and how they tie together; have the ability to understand enough law to give customer support. Additional support could include legal research; market research; advertising; and the delivery of seminar and materials.
While KCMBA is the oldest and largest bar association in the greater Kansas City Community, it remains committed to improving its community by engaging in drives to support Harvesters, Operation Breakthrough and strongly supporting the efforts of its sister organization, KCMBF. KCMBF works to end domestic violence, provides free legal services to veterans and is launching a legal education pipeline for underprivileged students in the Kansas City Area.
KCMBA strives to provide a healthy and happy work environment by offering ample paid holidays (closed one week in December), additional paid time off time for staff appreciation, many free meals and a collaborative work environment with a free gym and free covered parking for staff. The starting annual salary for this position is $30,000.
