Communications and Events Manager

Job Summary:

The Communications and Events Manager is directly responsible for all special events activities and communication/marketing work of The First Tee of Greater Kansas City.
Reports to: Development Director
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Fundraising
    • Create and implement the individual event and fundraising drive plans, approved by the Development Director ensuring all deadlines are met.
    • Motivate and mobilize diverse and active Event Committees to assist with all event fundraising and other necessary duties.
    • Grow event fundraising annually, including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of new event sponsors and participants.
    • Coordinate, supervise and operate each event with a high level of organization and professionalism, working with staff, volunteers, talent and venue contacts.
    • Assist with other fundraising duties as assigned such as grant seeking, research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
    • Track all fundraising with designated database and tracking systems.
    • Coordinate with Development Director on Development Committee meetings.
    • Produce direct mail and Email fundraising appeals.
    • Coordinate all mailings for gift acknowledgments.
  • Communications
    • Create and implement a communications plan, approved by the Development Director and Executive Director.
    • Motivate and mobilize a diverse and active Communications Committee to assist with marketing, publicity, public relations, and communications duties.
    • Implement a full marketing and publicity campaign and coordinate with volunteers or contractors as needed.
    • Maintain all aspects of The First Tee of Greater Kansas City website including blogs, payment portals etc.
    • Implement social media plans and maintain management of all social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter including coordinating with contractors as needed for support.
    • Implement separate plans for consistent Email communication with donors and participant-parents.
    • Ensure creation of all publications to support fundraising activities on time and in budget.
    • Ensure creation of all publications to support marketing activities on time and in budget.
  • Supervise and collaborate with other staff of The First Tee of Greater Kansas City as a team for events and activities as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as requested.

  • Demonstrate exceptional communication, fiscal management, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to physically carry out duties of the position
  • Ability to determine work priorities
  • Skilled typing ability and knowledge of personal computers, hardware, software, and related applications and systems including design software, database software, and typical office programs.
  • Ability to compose correspondence and reports. Knowledge of correct English usage, spelling, punctuation
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality
  • Candidate must successfully pass a background check
Education Requirement: Minimum of bachelor’s degree.
Time Commitment: Weekday office hours. Nights and weekends as needed.
