*The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art requires all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have received at least one vaccine shot prior to the first day of work. This position requires on-site work at the museum.
Coordinator, Stewardship
The Coordinator, Stewardship develops and oversees donor stewardship, communications, and reporting programs to enhance the donor experience and ensure recognition. This position supports the department’s internal systems, structures, and processes that enable the development department to meet and succeed budget and operational goals and maintain the highest standards of donor satisfaction and overall growth.
  1. Stewardship and Donor Relations: Produce, manage, and execute stewardship activity for all major, planned giving, and art donors. Projects will include, but are not limited to, the production of acknowledgement letters, donor walls and recognition lists, credit lines, reports, and custom messages.   
  2. Communications: Establish and produce a tiered, customized acknowledgement letter process to ensure timely gift recognition of donors at a variety of levels. Produce annual Gratitude Report and all fund reports for endowment donors. Assist with proposal writing and other communication as needed.  
  3. Research and Planning: Support development staff in research efforts to identify stewardship opportunities and plan special donor recognition events. Assist in event execution as needed.
  4. CRM Maintenance: Maintain and regularly screen CRM to avoid duplicates and data entry errors and ensure consistency in donor records.
  5. Other: Additional back-of-house philanthropic tasks as needed and appropriate for the scope and nature of the position.
  • Associate’s Degree or higher in a related field or an equal combination of education and experience. Background in journalism and/or communication preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience with non-profit fundraising
  • Knowledge of customer relationship management software (CRM) and database programs; Tessitura preferred
  • General knowledge of moves management principles and stages of donor-centered fundraising
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Windows 365, Teams. 
  • Strong critical thinking skills, written, verbal and data-mining.

  • Technical Acumen: Well versed in technology and/or the ability to identify the technologies that have impact on the growth and sustainability of the museum and to attain the knowledge required to leverage the power of those technologies in the daily job.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Working conditions are typically that of an office environment. Works primarily at a desk, uses a PC/ Perform with frequent interruptions and/or distractions. Perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload.
