Corporate Relationship Builder - Development Manager - 4 Day Work Week!
Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity, Inc., is an all-embracing Christian non-profit that invites the communities we serve to put Godly love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope in Eastern Jackson County (EJC), Missouri. Founded in 1989, Truman Habitat is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI).
With help of our partner families, and a wealth of community donors and volunteers, Truman Habitat has built and financed more than 88 homes for new home buyers and has repaired hundreds more to support the unmet needs of low-income neighbors in the communities we serve. And by working to build and improve homes here in our community we are making a meaningful difference in the health of neighborhoods throughout EJC and are doing our part in meeting Habitat for Humanity’s global vision of a world where EVERYONE has a decent place to live.

The role of the Corporate Relationship Builder (Development Manager) is critical to the overall success and security of the organization that will ultimately allow Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity to provide ongoing services for our clients.
Corporate Relationship Builder (Development Manager)We seek a Corporate Relationship Builder who enjoys the challenge of fundraising, respects the responsibility of stewardship, and has the heart of a servant leader. They are a strategic thinker, and a team player, who will deliver results to further Truman Habitat’s mission. They have integrity. They are highly motivated, hard-working, confident, and resilient with the ability to apply new knowledge in creative and innovative ways. They can adapt to change, enjoy a complex and fairly fast-paced environment, and are flexible when need be. Most importantly, they will be passionate about finding well-aligned partners and creating lasting relationships upon which Truman Habitat can build homes, communities and hope for generations to come.
The ideal candidate will have solid experience and demonstrated success with all aspects of fund development, including donor identification, cultivation, and stewardship; major gift solicitation; legacy giving; and grants. They will also have excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), influencing, framing, and leadership skills. The successful candidate will be obvious as an instant champion for Habitat’s mission and values, with an easy ability to clearly articulate our vision, and to build rapport and credibility with both internal and external contributors alike.
- Lead Corporate & Group Fundraiser for the organization under the direction of the CEO
- Implement strategies for corporate donors that give annually to increase their support.
- Respond to all corporate sponsorship/team building inquiries and make a financial ask in support of Truman Habitat.
- Create and prepare cultivation and solicitation communications (letters, proposals, and reports) for a portfolio of corporate donors.
- Cultivate Corporate & Groups for volunteer & sponsorship opportunities
- Working with the CEO to create a development plan
- Manage the development plan to reach goals for development team
- Provide oversight for stewardship events that engage corporate donors including groundbreakings, corporate team builds and house blessings - visit sponsors on the construction site
- Make presentations to church, civic, and community groups.
- Oversee the Corp Breakfast Committee and event planner for the Corporate Breakfast and solicit Corporate Partners
- Attend Development Committee meetings as support to the CEO
- Manage administrative Corporate/organization/church donations in Salesforce and acknowledge gifts/receipting/TY letters
- Track efforts to outcomes in Salesforce – CRM Reporting
- Build long-term, collaborative, strategic relationships with key corporations, organizations and foundations. Develop a broader base of prospective donors.
- Other Duties as Assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
- 3-5 years of relevant development/fundraising/sales experience
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Vision, diplomacy, imagination, and a strong sense of community purpose.
- An innovative and creative mindset that can develop new ways of generating financial support. A willingness to pilot new programs and learn from experiences.
- A love and respect for organizational partners and the broader community.
- A passion for storytelling to fuel building new partnerships. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task to meet multiple deadlines.
- Knowledge of complete fundraising cycle and ability to function in all phases. Experience developing a variety of fundraising strategies.
- Technological proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong customer-service orientation.
- Experience with SalesForce CRM donor tracking/management software preferred but not required.
- Experience with Salsa, Classy or Constant Contact preferred
- Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed

We build and repair homes. Habitat builds new homes and rehabs existing homes in partnership with hard-working families in EJC who pay monthly, interest free mortgages. We repair homes for low-income veterans and elderly or disabled neighbors, engaging them in volunteer work and repayment programs when possible.
We build hope. Habitat homes are not given away but are SOLD to low-income neighbors who do not qualify for traditional home loans. Lower construction costs with volunteers and donated materials, zero- interest mortgages, and green building principles keep our homes affordable for our partner families.
We build community. As the lives of the families who buy our homes are transformed, EJC neighborhoods are transformed by the stability that homeowners bring to the community. We work in partnership with the communities in which we build, and we embrace asset- based community development. Our volunteer programs bring EJC neighbors together across racial, class, and socioeconomic divisions to make EJC a stronger community.

This is a full-time exempt position within a four day work week – Tuesday – Friday.

This position requires office work. Communication and interaction with others are required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and report. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and sit for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
