JOB DESCRIPTION

Lead the Parks and Recreation Foundation of Johnson County through the implementation of a strategic plan for fundraising, marketing, and organizational development.  Manage and maintain collaborative and coordinated relationships between the foundation, Friends subgroups, and the JCPRD Board.  Identify sources such as individual donors, grants, charitable events, marketing opportunities, and corporate investors.   Develop and implement a plan containing strategies to successfully build a large donor base and ensure effective fundraising to secure major gifts.  Build relationships with strategic partners and external stakeholders in the community to leverage resources for JCPRD.  Lead and supervise Sponsorship Specialist and Community Engagement Coordinator.  This position is a member of JCPRD’s senior leadership team, advising the Executive Director regarding policy and strategic decisions related to fundraising.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Secures donations through the development and implementation of a fundraising plan including major gifts.
  • Manages grant cultivation, development, application, monitoring, and reporting process.
  • Coordinates Foundation and Friends activities and strategic direction with JCPRD and Foundation boards.
  • Meets with donors and prospects regularly.
  • Establishes strategic direction in collaboration with JCPRD’s Administrative Team and Foundation’s Executive Committee.
  • Creates planned giving policy and collateral materials.
  • Oversees annual signature event.
  • Provides supervision and leadership to Development staff.
  • Provides oversight of Foundation budget operations by preparing and administering accounts payable.
  • Develops and manages a Foundation endowment fund to include investment performance oversight, monthly reporting, and managing the disbursement funding for JCPRD project per direction of the Foundation board.
  • Leads collaboration between the Foundation, JCPRD, and Friends boards, ensuring boards are partnering to achieve JCPRD’s strategic goals.
  • Plans and executes meetings to support the Foundation board, managing Foundation website and all marketing efforts.

DAYS/HOURS: M-F 8:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., additional hours as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree required in Non-Profit Management, Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, or relevant field. Master's degree preferred in Non-Profit Management, Public Administration, or relevant field. Five (5) years of progressive fundraising or relevant experience required. Two (2) years budget management or relevant experience required. One (1) year of experience leading, directing, supervising, or coordinating the work of others required. Proven experience with a targeted fundraising campaign preferred.
