Development Director

The Development Director provides leadership and development of a diversified fundraising program including individual and corporate giving, planned giving, events and grants research.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects related to the creation, management and execution of fundraising campaigns with a focus on individual and corporate giving and foundation and non-governmental grants at a variety of levels.
  • Develop, execute and evaluate a comprehensive plan designed to develop and broaden long-term donor relationships through research of major donor prospects, cultivation and solicitation, resulting in increased donor involvement and financial support to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Coordinate and manage fundraising efforts, such as an Annual Appeal Campaign, Giving Tuesday and Thank-a-thon.
  • Develop and manage a Development Committee of board and community members.
  • Assist with HPC’s annual fundraising luncheon event and plan and manage additional events as appropriate.
  • Track and assess fundraising metrics and provide monthly and annual reports as requested.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and implementing a comprehensive fund development program and producing charitable contributions.
  • Demonstrated ability in securing major grants and gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations and other funding sources.
  • Demonstrated ability in planning and implementing long- and short-range development initiatives, such as capital campaigns and donation drives.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing demands under aggressive time constraints.
  • Knowledge of fundraising databases such as Bloomerang.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
  • Able to work independently, self-motivated with attention to detail.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience of comprehensive fundraising methods and identifying sources of funding for non-profit organizations.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office suite applications (Word, Excel and Power Point) required.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing may be required.
  • Those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination normally associated office work will be performed on a repetitive basis.
  • Frequent local travel for presentations and donation coordination.
  • Work under stressful conditions as well as irregular hours may be required.
