Development Manager
COTERIE THEATRE
POSITION: Development Manager
REPORTS TO: Managing Director
JOB TYPE: Exempt position, minimum 40 hours/week (salaried)
SALARY RANGE: $48,000 - $55,000
POSITION SUMMARY: For more than 40 years, The Coterie has provided professional classic and contemporary theatre which challenges audience and artist, as well as educational, dramatic outreach programs in the community. We are in search of a Development Manager to join our team of dedicated and talented artists and non-profit professionals. We seek to open lines of communication between races, genders, and generations by redefining children’s theatre to include families and diverse audiences. This individual, working closely with the Managing Director and the Development Committee, will help to lead all aspects of Coterie fundraising and development efforts. The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, highly collaborative, has strong and persuasive written and oral communication skills, and is comfortable managing multiple projects across departments. In addition, the person in this position will support and uplift The Coterie’s mission and values and will demonstrate a commitment to the principles of our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Justice work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and refine annual fundraising strategies, goals and benchmarks
- Solicit new and lapsed donors, and implement plans to secure increased gifts from current donors
- Manage annual fundraising activities, including donor appeals, events, stewardship, and other donor cultivation/recognition projects
- Supervise administrative staff for fundraising-related projects, including appeals, social media, and donor correspondence
- Maintain and execute a well-organized plan for donor recognition and stewardship
- Work with Box Office Manager to learn database and ticketing software and maintain accurate donor records and gift tracking data
- Work closely with Managing Director to write and submit institutional funding requests and reports, as well as research new institutional funding opportunities
- Provide staff support to the Development Committee, including preparation of development and fundraising reports at committee and board meetings
- Attend networking and community events in order to build and steward corporate relationships
- Support the Managing Director in fundraising tasks while representing The Coterie in a professional and positive manner
- Other related tasks, duties, and projects as assigned by the Managing Director
- 3+ years of fundraising and/or development experience or transferable experience
- Ability to be highly collaborative with staff, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
- Experience managing donor databases and information
