JOB PURPOSEThe Director, Corporate & Grant Partnerships is responsible for creating and implementing a new comprehensive plan to expand philanthropic partnerships for the museum from corporations (local and national) and foundations (private and government). This position manages a portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects, seeking sponsorships in the six-figure range, and oversees a robust grant program.
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Institutional Fundraising: Responsible for a comprehensive corporate and foundation fundraising strategy that encompasses the many existing relationships while driving a proactive new donor engagement plan.
  2. Portfolio Management: Manages a portfolio of corporate and grant prospects—including local, national, and international institutions—identifying and developing relationships with key decision-makers and executives. Works with colleagues across the museum on funding needs and partnership opportunities.
  3. Grants & Foundations: Plans and sets goals for the Manager, Government & Foundation Grants for writing and submitting grant inquiries, proposals, and reports to a wide range of public and private external funding agencies and organizations. Reviews internal requests for proposals for compliance.
  4. Staff Management & Development: Oversees performance management, coaching, and general management of the Manager, Government & Foundation Grants, ensuring the position has the tools, resources, and support for success. Provides opportunities for development (training) and holds the position accountable for performance. Manages expense budgets for applicable areas.
  5. Stewardship: Manages stewardship reporting as required, as well as propose and implement additional stewardship efforts for corporate and foundation donors.
  6. Other: Completes all other duties as assigned or requested in support of the organization. 
CORE CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Education/
Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7 or more years of progressively responsible experience in a successful corporate and foundation relations program(s).
  • Previous experience supervising individuals/teams in areas of fundraising.
  • Experience with volunteer engagement with the ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy.
  • Previous grant-writing experience desired.

  • Service Focus: Highly responsive and resourceful; strong propensity to provide excellent service and support internally and externally with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Technical Acumen: Well versed in technology and/or the ability to identify the technologies that have impact on the growth and sustainability of the museum and to attain the knowledge required to leverage the power of those technologies in the job.

Working Conditions
Working conditions are typically that of an office environment. Works primarily at a desk, uses a PC/ Perform with frequent interruptions and/or distractions. Perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload.
Travel Expectations
Monday to Friday Workweek. May work nights, weekends, and holidays.
