Director of Development

Executive Director

Salary Range and Benefits:

  • Full Time (Exempt) $55,000 – 65,000, based on experience.
  • Health Premium Reimbursement, up to $500 per month.
  • Dental, Disability, Life Insurance paid by Hillcrest Hope
  • PTO starting at 128 hours, plus all major holidays.
  • 401(k) plan with traditional and ROTH options, 3% match.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Director of Development creates and leads the execution of a comprehensive fund development strategy for Hillcrest Hope, in close coordination with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and its committees. The Director of Development represents Hillcrest Hope at various community and professional events and participates in and oversees all fundraising activities and events. The Director of Development will be responsible for strengthening relationships with current key stakeholders, while seeking new connections and community partners to increase donor base. The Director of Development will raise funds through a variety of sources, including individual giving, sponsorships, grants, and events.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Development/Fundraising Strategy
  • Create a comprehensive development strategy and execute an annual fundraising plan.
  • Implement donor stewardship strategies to cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, including acknowledgment letters, donor recognition events, regular communication updates, and face-to-face meetings.
  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities, prepare grant proposals, submit grant applications, and coordinate grant reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Manage the donor database, including donor records, gift processing, and generating reports to track donor giving, engagement, and retention.
  • Develop and manage the annual fundraising budget.

Event Planning
  • Plan and execute the annual Night of Hope fundraising gala.
  • Plan and execute the annual Giving Thanks 5K run/walk.
  • Develop and maintain event budgets to maximize return on investment.
  • Recruit, train, and recognize volunteers and leaders for event planning committees, maintaining a committee leadership “Pipeline.”
  • Annually evaluate event structure, goals, and impact.

Communications Strategy
  • Work with the Executive Director and leadership team to develop and implement ongoing marketing and communications strategies.
  • Create and implement print and digital fundraising campaigns, donor appeals, social media communications, and email campaigns to promote the mission and engage stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team in the development of marketing strategies and materials for all fundraising and programming events.
  • Oversees the management and upkeep of the organization’s website and social media content.
  • With the assistance of the Operations Coordinator, execute the organization’s annual marketing plan, to include print, email and social media content.
  • In collaboration with the Operations Coordinator, draft and publish monthly newsletter.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, with 3 years of experience in non-profit fundraising. CFRE a plus.
  • Proven track record in nonprofit fundraising and event planning. Marketing and social media experience highly preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Experience working with donor management software, Bloomerang software experience a plus.
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, especially Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Drives performance by holding self and others accountable for achieving goals.
  • Demonstrates confidence and experience in public speaking, is comfortable networking.

Working Conditions
  • Director of Development usually works in an office environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to nonstandard workplaces.
  • Director of Development will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends to accommodate fundraising/networking events and board/committee meetings.
  • Able to perform the basic functions of the position, including extended hours standing, bending and stretching.
  • Must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment, up to 40 lbs.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Hybrid work schedule is available after completion of 90-day onboarding period.
