Grant Writer (Part-Time)

CHARLOTTE STREET SEEKS PART-TIME GRANT WRITER

THE JOB OPPORTUNITY:

The Grant Writer is a key position that provides support in fund development, including strategy, planning, and implementation. Reporting to the Development + Marketing Director, this position will assist in writing and report work for 25+ grants in a given year. Responsibilities include grant calendar management, donor research, and cultivation. The ideal candidate will be energized by a role that balances strategic thinking, organization, and managing a high volume of written content, and will be excited about working to support contemporary art and artists in Kansas City. 

THE DESIRED CANDIDATE:

We are seeking a clear communicator with a compelling copywriting voice and heart for storytelling. The idealcandidate is passionate about the arts, and specifically Kansas City’s contemporary artists. Direct experience in grant writing is attractive, but not a requirement.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to organize and meet deadlines, excellent time management
  • Ability to conduct research, summarize data, and prepare reports 
  • Demonstrated track record of creating professional, persuasive written content
  • Knowledge of regional corporate, community, and family foundation funding sources preferred or willingness to learn
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products and donor database programs a plus
  • There are no educational requirements for this position 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Work with Development + Marketing Director to develop annual grant strategy, action plan, and calendar
  • Work with Development + Marketing Director to prepare 25+ grants in a given year, including interim and final reports
  • Meets proposal and report deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and submission. 
  • Research and pursue prospects for new grant funding
  • Manage grant-seeking activities, including tracking, recordkeeping, and internal reporting
  • Work with Development + Marketing Director to further develop and maintain relationships with grant funders 
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings, one on one meetings with supervisor, team trainings and professional development opportunities
  • Participate in other full team and Development Department activities as needed  
  • Other duties as assigned

TECHNOLOGY ENVIRONMENT

CSF utilizes Apple computers and Microsoft Office 365.

CLASSIFICATION & PAY:

Part-time hourly, Non-exempt
20 hours per week, flexible scheduling 
Eligible for paid vacation and sick leave
Pay $19.25/hr 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Open space office environment. This position can accommodate remote work, but weekly in office meetings are required. Charlotte Street Foundation has recently moved all of its internal operations, as well as our programming venues, to a brand new 20,000 sq ft facility at 3333 Wyoming in the Volker neighborhood of Kansas City, MO.
 
Must show proof of being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (as currently defined by the CDC), to work safely with staff, volunteers, and guests at Charlotte Street Foundation. Applicants who become fully vaccinated by their start date will also be welcome.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION:
