Assistant Early Learning and Inclusion Director

Position: Assistant Early Learning and Inclusion Director (St. Mark Center)
Classification: Full Time, Exempt
Reports To: Early Learning and Inclusion Director  
 
Position Summary
 
The Assistant  Early Learning and Inclusion Director assists with planning, organizing, and implementation of education services for children. These services contribute to the increased social competence in children and the recognition and enhancement of parents as the primary educators of their children. The Assistant  Early Learning and Inclusion Director  will be responsible for supporting and engaging education staff, in individual and small group formats, and building their capacity to promote school readiness of children in their classrooms. 
 
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Acts as Early Learning and Inclusion Director in Director's absence. Applies professional knowledge to plan, implement, and supervise a comprehensive program that promotes positive growth and development of children and youth.
  • Acts as the closing administrator
  • Supports the functions of this position with a strong understanding of the DRDP, CLASS, Creative Curriculum/Project Approach; and thorough knowledge and application of Developmentally Appropriate Practices
  • Interview and hire new teaching staff
  • Responsible for the coordination of schedules to maintain appropriate classroom ratios based on Missouri State Child Care Licensing.
  • Supervise the implementation of the Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline, and Project Approach.
  • Support and monitor classroom practices – room arrangement, daily schedules, routines, and transitions to assure their adherence to Head Start and program policies.
  • Support children’s assessment by teaching staff including, initial ASQ screenings, weekly lesson plans, child portfolios, DECA follow up, DRDP rating records and reports.
  • Coordinate and track outside interventions (RFIs).
  • Track IEPs and IFSP
  • Support the Child Centered Creativity (C3) team as an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Model Conscious Discipline with all staff
  • Hold staff accountable to licensing regulations and SM Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist the Early Learning and Inclusion Director in obtaining and maintain NAEYC Accreditation
  • Observes classroom activities, provides feedback, and inspect facilities for compliance with health, safety, fire and other regulations.
  • Support the Kitchen and Facilities Operations to ensure effectiveness of Family Style Dining in all classrooms
  • Supervise no more than 15 teachers.
  • Support Family and Community Engagement (FCE) by participating in FCE events.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; or a baccalaureate or advanced degree in any field.
  • At least 30 credit hours in early childhood education
  • Experience teaching children aged 0-5 years old
  • Experience in NAEYC
Physical Requirements:
  • Be able to lift up to 55 pounds
  • Excessive climbing, walking, bending, stretching and sitting on floor with children
  • Exposure to childhood illnesses and diseases
  • Exposure to varying outside temperatures (heat and cold)
  • Able to work varying hours to meet the needs of the mission.
