The Co-Lead Teacher is responsible for providing educational and social emotional services to a classroom of young children who have experienced some form of trauma, for providing educational support services to the families and for actively participating on a multidisciplinary team. This is a full-time, year round position.
Build relationships with children to develop rapport and trust and with caregivers to create a positive educational experience for their child.
Provide a safe and caring educational environment to help promote the individual capacity of each child.
Provide quality educational services through the development of lesson plans, implementation of curriculum, delivery of instruction, and execution of developmentally appropriate practices.
Engage with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers and counselors, occupational therapist, speech pathologist, and consulting child psychiatrists, to provide effective treatment planning.
Collaborate effectively with co-teacher to share classroom responsibilities
Maintain timely and accurate paperwork and documentation, such as educational summaries, daily notes, and program evaluation questionnaires. Effectively and efficiently complete evaluations and assessments of children.
Attend department and all-staff meetings and participate in monthly Conscious Discipline training.
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education
Teaching certificate preferred
Master’s Degree in Early Education or related field preferred
Skills and Experience:
Demonstrated knowledge of and two years experience with child development (ages 0-8)
General knowledge of the signs and symptoms of child abuse and/or neglect
Knowledge of the role of a mandated reporter
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality regarding records, clients and sensitive data
Interpersonal style that is conducive to a multidisciplinary team approach
