 Counseling Services Coordinator

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate student-centered philosophy in support of student success.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Counseling services, current best practices, and Counseling development theory.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment.
  • Promote Counseling service events to students and the Avila community – focusing on the special needs of at-risk students.
  • Demonstrate a record of superior communication and presentation skills, successful relationship building, and collaboration with internal and external constituencies.
  • Establish and maintain confidential counseling files.
  • Provide individual, couples, and group counseling, crisis intervention, support services, and community mental health services for Avila students.
  • Provides emergency/crisis intervention.
  • Provides consultation to Avila faculty and staff regarding student behavioral and emotional issues.
  • Provides and promotes training, educational outreach programs, and information about mental health and wellness issues throughout the year.
  • Collaborate as the advisor for the peer educator program (PEACH).
  • Serves as a member of ACT (Avila Care Team).
  • Develop pertinent assessment tools and use data to drive decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned and as the Title III grant progresses and data is available
Qualifications Master’s Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, counseling, clinical social work, or other similar clinical training with valid clinical licensure.
Counseling experience in a mental health setting dealing with diverse student groups and diverse issues.
