Director of Early Childhood Programs - Country Club Christian Church

Job Summary

The early childhood programs director will oversee the daily operations and administration of the parents’ day out and preschool programs. This church based early childhood program has a capacity for 110 children per day.   The candidate will be experienced in the field of early childhood development and have administrative experience. Responsibilities include recruitment of staff, marketing and communication, financial management, and supportive interactions with families. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, implement, coordinate and control the service of the PDO and Preschool Programs.

  • Exercise independent judgment, and decision-making authority as delegated.

  • Operate the programs to meet regulations of governing entities to include:  The Office of Childhood-Child Care Regulation, State Fire Marshal Office and the KC Health Department.  As the preschool is accredited, ensure those programs are following MO Accreditation mandates.

  • Support a play-based learning environment that emphasizes quality experiences for children.

  • Promote a safe, nurturing, healthy, positive, and caring environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence is encouraged, and individuality is respected.

  • Maintain accurate records on staff and children in compliance with Child Care Licensing.

  • Develop and maintain parental relationships, while ensuring communication is consistent, open and effective.

  • Recruit, train and supervise up to 25 staff. Provide effective and helpful evaluations through informal observations and an annual formal evaluation.

  • Support hiring and scheduling of Sunday morning childcare staff for the church.

  • Ensure needed supplies are kept on-hand.

  • Foster partnerships with other organizations.

  • Oversee the administrative and business reports and records; develop a budget and track spending to assure the program adheres to the budget.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the operation of the program.

  • Provide accurate and timely information to all inquiry calls.

  • Perform other functions as assigned.

  • Work with a Parent Advisory Committee

  • Collaborate with the church staff and provide initiative and leadership to strengthen, grow and improve the existing program.

 

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Thorough understanding of childcare operations.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge and implementation of childcare guidelines that maintain compliance with Child Care Regulation, Fire Safety and Health Department regulations.

  • Comprehensive knowledge on implementing programs for children based on Developmentally Appropriate Practices.

  • Computer literate.

  • Ability to manage a budget.

  • Accepts and respects differences in children, families, and staff.

 

Qualifications

The Director must have the skills and experience to work in a church based early childhood program and be capable of working cooperatively and supportively with church staff.  

  • College degree (master’s preferred), a minimum of 15 hours of Early Childhood Education

  • Significant work in Early Childhood Education and ideally some management experience.   

  • Credentials needed to get MO Director’s Certificate (required for MOA)

  • Proven experience of administrative and staff supervision skills.  

 

The Director of Early Childhood Programs reports directly to the Minister of Children and Families, while working with the Executive Minister, the Director of Operations, and the finance office.

 

Work Schedule

Full-time position with hours August through May, Monday - Friday, 7:30am – 3:30pm M-F (except during scheduled school vacations).  Summer hours are the same with the summer session operating June and July (program closed two weeks end of July early Aug)
