Kansas City University Program Coordinator for CHAMPS (Coaching Health Eating and Movement Program)
The CHAMPS coordinator (Coaching Healthy Eating and Movement Program) in Kansas City will work within the Score 1 for Health program at KCU. Responsibilities of the Score 1 for Health CHAMPS coordinator will be to facilitate program activities with local elementary schools in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area; contribute to program planning; maintain communication with stakeholders; serve as a point of contact for questions; and provide additional resources as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and maintains participation in the program
- Serves as a liaison with physicians, community agencies, and participating families – representing Score 1 for Health as part of outreach efforts
- Report program highlights, progress, potential and existing challenges as related to the program
- Evaluate and analyze the program under the supervision of the Director for Score 1
- Support the development of funding proposals if available/appropriate
- Contribute to Score 1 publications
- Coordinate internal and external communications with community partners, schools and medical providers
- Create and maintain schedule of program activities
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization
Qualifications:
- Knowledge obtained through a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science, Dietetics, Foods and Nutrition, Food Service Management or related degree. Equivalent years of experience may substitute for education
- 2 years of experience in providing nutrition counseling to school-aged children
- Minimum of one year experience working with children with childhood obesity
- One year experience working with low-income, multi-cultural families preferred and highly desirable
- Excellent communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills required
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Demonstrated computer ability, including proficiency in working with databases
