Library Training Coordinator, Mid-America Library Alliance
Develops, manages, and implements training programs targeting management, supervisory, and technical skills for library employees. Works independently and collaboratively with subject matter experts and leadership to identify new educational and developmental opportunities for library professionals. Coordinates and arranges training events by scheduling dates, venues, and other details. This position requires the ability to interact and communicate well with all levels of staff.
Skills/attributes required:
- Excellent communication skills essential. Must be self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
- Knowledge of libraries and library development needs.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in group and individual settings.
- Strong demonstrated soft skills.
- Experience arranging and implementing trainings or events.
- Experience facilitating professional learning (teaching, training, or consulting).
- Experience in collaborative professional settings.
- Ability to leverage technology tools to enhance professional development including social medias.
- Experience using web-based, computer-based, and face-to-face training techniques to support a comprehensive and tailored training curriculum.
- Familiarity with needs analysis, program content development, training design, adult learning principles, and training evaluation.
- Proficiency with computers and software Microsoft Office, Adobe, online scheduling tools and online conferencing tools such as GoToMeeting and Zoom.
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Results orientation and high personal accountability.
- Preferred history of active engagement in professional associations or community organizations.
- Working knowledge of MALA’s courier delivery service
Work Schedule: Full time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday
Office Location: 15624 E. US Highway 24, Independence, MO 64050
Pay: $44,800 salary annually

Located in Independence, Missouri, the Mid-America Library Alliance (MALA) is an active consortium consisting of nearly 900 libraries or library systems in eight states. MALA was established in 1978 as the Kansas City Metropolitan Library & Information Network (KCMLIN) with a mission to “develop, coordinate, promote, and share information resources and facilitate professional development.” MALA offers interlibrary loan courier delivery service, professional development workshops and consulting.
