About Great Jobs KC: KC Scholars (dba Great Jobs KC) (www.greatjobskc.org) is a 501(c)(3) college scholarship and tuition-free job training program. Its goal is to support persistence and increase the college completion rate for low- and modest-income students across the six-county, bi-state service region and secure family-sustaining careers. The organization was designed to change thousands of individual lives and transform the region by preparing the local future workforce and contributing to the regional economy. The KC Scholars Scholarship Program awards traditional college scholarships to high school juniors, adult learner scholarships to adults 18 years and older, and college savings match awards to high school freshmen. The Great Jobs KC program provides tuition assistance to approved career training programs in high-demand industries such as construction, healthcare, information technology, logistics/warehousing, manufacturing and service careers. With the support of Great Jobs KC, adults 17+ and older can learn the skills needed in one year or less to secure a job with family-sustaining wages. Great Jobs KC supports all its Scholars throughout their college or job training and into their first year of employment.  
 
About The Role
 
Reports to:                   Director of GJKC
Location:                      Kansas City, MO
                                    Hybrid (technology provided)
Status:                          Exempt, Full-time
Salary:                          Annual salary based on experience

Operating hours:         8:30 am to 5:00 pm CST
 
Key Performance Indicators:

  • Ensure 80% of sophomore and junior level Scholars in high school and college attain internship experiences.
  • Ensure 100% of interns have a resume and establish a LinkedIn, Handshake, Indeed, or other approved professional network platform.
  • Ensure 100% of interns complete grade-level appropriate professional skills training.
Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and organized individual to join our team as an Internship Coordinator. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating and managing our internship program, ensuring a positive experience for both Scholar interns and the organization.
 
Responsibilities
  •  Collaborate with Scholarship team and other stakeholders to design a strong internship structure to match high school and college Scholars with summer internships. 
  • Develop and enhance the internship program structure, ensuring it provides meaningful experiences for Scholars in high school and college.
  • Develop and execute communication plan for Scholar awareness and expectations on internship program requirements.
  • Coordinate the recruitment process for Scholars, including advertising positions, reviewing applications, and conducting interviews.
  • Work closely with Scholarship team to identify Scholar’s talent and career interest.
  • Engage with Scholars early and often to build relationships.
  • Secure internship opportunities with local and regional business partnerships to provide summer internship experiences.
  • Design and conduct welcome/orientation sessions to welcome and onboard Scholars prior to internship placement. 
  • Facilitate professional and soft skills workshops to provide necessary information and resources to ensure Scholars have smooth transition into their roles.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for Scholar interns, addressing their questions, concerns, and providing guidance throughout internship.
  • Monitor Scholar interns’ progress and performance, offering constructive feedback and support as needed.
  • Foster positive relationships with educational institutions, career services, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to create networking opportunities for Scholar interns within the organization and business partners.
  • Implement evaluation mechanisms to assess the success of the internships.
  • Generate reports on key metrics, providing insights for program improvement using Salesforce.
 Education:
  • An undergraduate degree is required.
Work Experience:
  • A minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience which supports High School students and College Level students.
  • Proven and successful experience collaborating with other organizations to achieve program goals.
  • Proven experience of innovating, creating, and scaling new initiatives, strategically planning, and working collaboratively with multiple entities to create impactful systemic change.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment with the ability to set and meet clear deadlines.
  • Experience with Customer Relation Management Systems (salesforce) preferred but not required.
 Additional Knowledge, skills, and competencies:
  • Ability to be proactive and consider the bigger picture.
  • Exceptional judgment that augments an ability to be solutions-oriented and then act appropriately to solve problems. 
  • Strong organizational skills, well-developed process skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a rapidly scaling organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to work with large diverse, multi-generational audiences.
  • Ability to analyze data and recognize and articulate trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel).
 Physical requirements:
  • Ability to lift to 15 lbs.
  • Ability to work in an office and/or remote environment.
  • Ability to travel from and to work and occasionally to regional sites as the organization grows.
  • Ability to interact with others via technology, face-to-face and collectively.
