Congregation B’nai Jehudah, the oldest and largest reform Jewish Congregation in the Kansas City community, is seeking a full-time professional Executive Director to replace our retiring Executive Director.
Reporting to the President of our Board of Trustees, the Executive Director is the chief operating officer of the congregation. The Executive Director assists the Board of Trustees and Committees in the development, implementation, and analysis of all policies and programs as well as assuring the economic, physical and human resources necessary for a successful congregation.  The Executive Director supervises the administrative staff, facilities staff and cemetery caretaker to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the congregation and the effective maintenance of the all properties.  The Executive Director oversees the development of the annual operating and capital budgets, monitors income and expenses, and offers financial reports and policy recommendations to the Finance/Budget Committee and the Board.  This position is responsible for fostering positive, professional and supportive relationships with new and existing membership directly and through the staff in dealing with matters related to issue resolution, complaints, dues, etc. for successful outcomes. The Executive Director works in partnership with the Rabbis and staff to meet the spiritual and educational and community building needs of the congregation.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in finance or business or equivalent work experience and a minimum of 5 years administrative leadership.  We are seeking candidates who have demonstrated ability to manage financial matters, including budgeting and accounting, and facility management.  The ability to manage and prioritize a number of tasks simultaneously and work as a team player with clergy and lay leadership is required. Candidates must possess substantial knowledge of Jewish ritual, history and customs and demonstrate courtesy, respect and compassion as essential elements in dealings with board, staff and members as well as other entities.  We seek candidates who take initiative to improve how work is performed and works independently with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
