Executive Director

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for all aspects of leadership and management for Alpha Delta Kappa (AΔK). This includes, but is not limited to the AΔK Foundation, communications and publications, data and financial management, member relations and services, personnel management and training, strategic planning, resource development and marketing. The organization is volunteer-driven and requires a leader who collaborates, maintains organizational stability, promotes innovation, builds relationships, supports a diverse and inclusive environment, and leverages the talent and commitment of the international leadership, members and staff.



  • Oversee organizational operations, build a high functioning, inclusive culture of transparency and communication

  • Develop positive relationships with the staff, international leadership, members, partners and community

  • Proactively develop and maintain a positive and productive staff culture and work environment

  • Delegate portions of these responsibilities together with proportionate authority for their fulfillment, but not delegate or relinquish any portion of accountability for results

Strategy and Planning

  • Act as a resource in guiding the organization toward open-mindedness and welcoming inclusion of people of diverse races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientation and ages

  • Implement the AΔK Strategic Plan in partnership with stakeholders

  • Develop and manage the annual budgets of the AΔK Organization and Foundation along with staff in accordance with the AΔK Strategic Plan for International Executive Board (IEB) approval

  • Actively identify, pursue and secure non-dues revenue sources


  • Oversee accurate and efficient data management

  • Supervise the accounting practices and timely financial reporting

  • Coordinate the technical and audio-visual needs for the International Convention, including transcribing convention proceedings

  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations governing association management

  • Manage the human resources function of the organization, which includes effective recruitment, employee onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention

  • Effectively manage the physical infrastructure of the organization, making recommendations on capital expenditures



  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field required

  • Master’s degree and/or Certified Association Executive (CAE) preferred


  • 5+ years of experience in leadership positions, preferably in a nonprofit

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining a diverse and inclusive environment

  • Experience in staff supervision and support, including operating remotely as needed

  • Comprehensive budget development and fiscal management experience

  • Experience with data management, data analysis and performance metrics

  • Experience collaborating with external agencies, organizations and stakeholders

  • Experience in building management and the ability to analyze physical infrastructure needs to make recommendations for improvement


  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in management and governance

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans in collaboration with stakeholders

  • Evidence of organizational transformation, innovation, decision-making and problem-solving

  • Evidence indicating effective decision making, open to differing points of view, data-driven, fair, and communicative about rationale for decisions

  • Strong aptitude for verbal, written and electronic communication, presentation, and relationship development

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Adobe, Google Suite, and Sage50 Cloud applications; proficiency in other related technologies; familiarity with web design and digital forms

  • Ability to travel as needed
