Executive Director


Just Like You Films is seeking an Executive Director with proven executive leadership and fundraising skills to promote the vision, mission and strategic direction of this private, nonprofit film production company creating powerful tools in the drive for acceptance. Our mission is to raise a global generation of kids who, because of their knowledge and understanding, are more empathetic and compassionate people.  The Executive Director (ED) is the key international management leader of Just Like You Films (JLY Films).

JLY Films ED is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization, working in tandem with the JLY Films (Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Youth Advisory Board) and alongside the Development Director and Events Director (Contracted positions not full-time staff) . The relationship between this team is imperative to the success and longevity of the mission’s viability and impact.

Other key duties include fundraising, programming, film distribution, marketing, and community outreach/public relations.

The position reports directly to the Board of Directors and is held accountable with quarterly meetings, a mid-year and year-end review. This position can be part-time or full-time. 

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Financial Performance and Viability: 

Develop resources and maintain existing donor relationships sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.

  • Engage in fundraising and developing other revenues necessary to support JLY Films mission

  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of JLY Films, to include submission to the Boards of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.

  • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.

  • Planning and operation of annual budget.

 

Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with the Board, Corporate Partners and outsourced film partners and creative team to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, additional films and community outreach.

 

  • Responsible for leading JLY in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Boards of Directors.

  • Responsible for creation and implementation of Just Like You Films strategic program to carry out the organization’s mission.

  • Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors (and Executive Committee) to seek their involvement in policy decisions, programming direction and execution, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.

  • Responsible for creation and implementation of a strategic plan to ensure that Just Like You Films can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.

  • Responsible for the enhancement of Just Like You Films image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.

  • Serve as JLY primary spokesperson to the organization’s partners, constituents, the media and the general public.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance JLY Mission.

  •  Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board (and Executive Committee) and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

  • Oversees Board goals and alignments, specifically Board engagement, recruitment, retention and participation.

 

Organization Operations: Oversees and implements resources to ensure the operations of the organization are effective.

  • Supervise and collaborate with organization’s partners, Board, committees, and volunteers. 

  • Oversee marketing and other communications efforts.

  • Oversees the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff or contractors.

  • Adhere to employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the nonprofit.

  • Responsible for effective administration of JLY Films operations.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three to five years senior nonprofit management experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Flexibility, Creativity, Ingenuity

  • Transparent and high integrity leadership.

  • Three to Five years senior nonprofit management experience.

  • High level strategic thinking and planning. 

  • Ability to envision and effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, corporate partners, volunteers and the overall community.

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff and Board of Directors.

  • A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.

  • Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.

  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.

  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills including public speaking.

  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
