The Mid America Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce is a proven advocate representing the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, Transgender and Allied business community.
Celebrating our sixth year, our Chamber provides our 400+ members with networking and support via a robust programming and marketing calendar.
Based in Kansas City, the successful candidate will enjoy the Midwest benefits of a large city, and the warmth of a giving, open-minded, philanthropic and engaged community. Known for the fountains, barbeque and jazz, Kansas City also boasts a Major League Baseball and a National Football League team. 500,000 people call Kansas City ‘home’ with over 2million in the metropolitan area.
The new Executive Director will be the “face” of the chamber and must have a proven ability to foster and maintain strong business relationships with peer organizations, elected officials, our members and the community as a whole. The ideal candidate will have experience in the following competencies:
  • Experience, proven abilities and the ability to represent a minority demographic with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion in all aspects of business.
  • Demonstrated senior leadership in a comparable membership organization, overseeing and working in close collaboration with a Board of Directors.
  • Ability to build real value for members, designing and implementing roadways to maintain and grow membership.
  • Developing and managing an annual budget, aligned to the strategic goals of the organization. Ensuring financial soundness, transparency and a balanced annual budget.
  • Experience with creating financially successful events and programs.
  • Ability to execute confidently, without daily oversight, the strategic goals, and report results clearly on a regular basis.
