VP of Finance

 Summary/Objective

The VP of Finance directs the organization’s financial, accounting, planning practices. The position is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction and oversight to preserve and strengthen the infrastructure of Goodwill including, Finance, Information Technology and maintenance of agency owned and leased facilities. 

 Essential Functions

  • Lead the development of reliable cash flow projection process and reporting including minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
  • Lead the development of a comprehensive annual operating and capital budget for MoKan Goodwill.
  • Assists CFO in developing and maintaining a 3-Year Rolling Strategic financial model.
  • Oversees all forecasting and planning efforts.
  • Manage the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial, accounting and operating reports to meet the varying needs of the organization, as well as provide additional statistical or analytical data as requested.
  • Manage MoKan’s treasury function and assist CFO in managing banking relationships.
  • Maintain files on leases, contracts, and other agency documents.
  • Ensures compliance with governmental accounting regulations and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Supervise the Accounting and Payroll functions, to ensure timely and accurate execution of all departmental operations with appropriate separation of accountabilities.
  • Promote within the Finance department effective workflow, high morale, active communication, and strong staff development.
  • Responsible for guiding preparation for the annual financial audit and coordinating with the designated audit firm in its efforts to conduct the audit and produce a management report.
  • Analyze the general economic, business and financial conditions to determine and/or anticipate their impact on the organization’s policies and operations.
  • Supervise the department purchasing activities to ensure competitiveness of vendors and accuracy of inventory.
  • Assist in the management of all tax and not-for-profit reporting requirements including reports to the IRS and to any other local, state or federal agencies.
  • Participates as part of the Executive Management team.
  • Promote cooperation between and among departments and divisions throughout the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment.

This is a sedentary role, some filing is required. The employee must have the ability to communicate verbally and apply active listening skills, lift up to 25 pounds, and bend and stand as necessary.
 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Travel

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Work hours are generally Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. Some schedule flexibility may be permissible with supervisor approval.
  • Alternative work hours will be required based on the needs of the business and/or to support events, meetings and engagements.
  • Travel within the MoKan region is required. Occasional travel outside the region may be required but is limited as approved.

Desired Skills / Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
  • CPA license (active or inactive) preferred.
  • Non-profit experience a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in administrative finance/accounting areas, with supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial practices, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
  • Computer literacy, including spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation applications.
  • Supervisory and motivational skills.
  • Strong organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Good decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality.
