Health Equity Coordinator
The Unified Government Public Health Department (UGPHD) is seeking applicants for a Health Equity Coordinator. Wyandotte County, KS, experiences some of the poorest health outcomes in the state of Kansas and some of the starkest inequities in terms of who is experiencing those poor health outcomes. This position will use a data driven and evidence-based approach, in alignment with the department's strategic priorities, to provide technical expertise, project management, and leadership related to the development, implementation, and oversight of health equity and impact plans. This position will identify emerging issues and support department staff in identifying strategic opportunities that would improve health outcomes and health equity. Because health inequities are inextricably linked to structural racism and institutional bias, the Health Equity Coordinator will also assist the department in building internal organizational capacity to address racial disparities within the current UGPHD structure. This position will work closely with UGPHD leadership to assess, evaluate, and continually report on the department's progress toward health equity and impact goals. The position will also be responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with a wide variety of community members and entities (e.g. schools, community-based organizations, legislators, and social service agencies) that have an interest or need to improve health equity in Wyandotte County.
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and two years of experience in public health, or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above. Master’s Degree in Public Health with an emphasis in health equity is preferred. Foundational knowledge of public health, health equity, and proven methods to reducing inequities is expected.
Must reside in Wyandotte County or relocate into the county within 12 months. Benefit package.
