Over 1,300 Matches (Bigs & Littles) get together every week in Kansas City. Research proves that children enrolled in BBBSKC programs are more likely to improve in school and in their relationships with family and friends and are less likely to skip school or use illegal drugs or alcohol. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Foundation and Engagement Manager serves on the Development team and shares responsibilities for achieving the fundraising goals. This full time, non-exempt position is responsible for assisting the agency in growing resources by developing strategies to increase annual revenue from grant funding. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the research, outreach, cultivation, solicitation, reporting and stewardship of foundation donors. Additionally, the Foundation and Engagement Manager will collaborate with colleagues on the fundraising team on other development initiatives.
Grant Management
·       Research, identify, develop and write grant proposals
·       Develop and manage all relationships with potential grant funders, which will include prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, with special attention to any and all grant reporting functions
·       Draft, finalize and file all reports as required to funding organizations within given timelines
·       Collaborate with different BBBS departments to ensure grant requests are in line with agency needs
·       Oversee/manage BBBSA pass-through grants and reports
·       Manage company matching gift process
Donor Stewardship
·       Manage annual stewardship plan devised specifically to communicate to different donor sub groups which would include: individual, corporate, foundation and event donors
·       Collaborate with development, events and marketing teams to create high quality donor communications and collateral materials
·       Identify, manage/collaborate with BBBS staff different touch points to engage and deepen donor relationships (Big of the Year Selection Committee, Thank-a-Thon, Monthly Match Maker stories)
Donor Management
·       Maintain an accurate database and tracking system with donor information and generate regular activity reports
·       Create and oversee checks and balances systems for all donor thank you letters
·       Track board of directors’ annual goals and commitments and report out bi-monthly
·       Assist in leading presentations to different groups to speak on behalf of BBBS (lunch and learns, orientations, etc.)
·       Assist in engaging and forming relationships with current and potential BBBS donors/supporters at BBBS events and outside networking events
·       Other duties as assigned

Our ideal candidate will be a team player with a good work ethic that is able to form strong relationships and work with anyone.  The position requires persistence, patience, enthusiasm, initiative and flexibility with a willingness to work as needed to accomplish job requirements. Candidates must also possess the ability to set and accomplish goals. Must be highly organized with the ability to multi-task, implement systems and follow-up processes, able to effectively work under pressure, use independent judgment and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints. You should be able to work independently and also work well with a team as you will work alongside our Development and Events team members.

·     Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of 3 years' experience of relevant nonprofit development work
·     Minimum of one year grant writing experience preferred
·     Possess strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and have the ability to present in front of a group
·     Knowledge of broad themes in fundraising along with self-motivation, initiative and reliability are essential
·     Basic office skills (Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, DonorPerfect- database management, SalesForce, etc.) and strong organization skills are a must
