Web & Graphic Designer

Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings. The Web & Graphic Designer is responsible for enhancing and strengthening the agency’s communication with stakeholders through the design and functionality of the public website and intranet; creation of traditional and digital marketing collateral; and the enforcement of brand consistency across all platforms.   • Website development and design including creating and maintaining overall websites (external and intranet) including, but not limited to editing and updating copy and code; creating landing pages, email templates and display ads; and implementing the agency’s blog.
  • Build/maintain a WordPress website that includes a CMS (Content Management System) and implement improvements to assist in site functionality, performance optimization, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and email deployments.
  • Establish a system for keeping the website information up-to-date on a regular basis.
  • Establish and maintain a trusted and collaborative relationship with program staff.
  • Creatively translate marketing communication strategies into clear and compelling online development and graphic design solutions in traditional and digital mediums, while enforcing and maintaining brand consistency across all platforms.
  • Lead the agency’s creative asset design and visual branding including creating and maintaining traditional and digital media for special events, programs and social enterprises such as marketing collateral including flyers, signs, brochures, promotional displays, ads, newsletter templates and presentation pieces.
  • Work with the marketing team, outside vendors and internal clients such as graphic artists, printers and program personnel, regarding marketing requests and programs.
  • Utilize Google Ads as an effective strategy to promote revenue-generating programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Catholic Charities promotes a diverse workforce. This requirement includes any public speech, demonstration, or writing including the use of social media or other digital technologies
  • Must complete VIRTUS training, background screening, drug testing, and any ongoing training as required
  • 2-4+ years of experience designing, building, implementing and managing responsive web pages and dynamic, database-driven sites.  Skilled in the use of multiple web development, graphics, desktop publishing, and content management applications. Expertise in SEO, SEM and web analytics required.
  • 2-4+ years of experience in the graphic design field including advanced working knowledge of graphics software. Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator experience, required; WordPress theme builders, such as Elementor, preferred.
  • College degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of design principles, typography, user interfaces, web standards, and usability, and the American Disabilities Act (ADA) for the web.
  • Experience with cross-browser development, testing and translating designs into compatible HTML/CSS; and capable of updating and enhancing existing website codebase.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimum direction, as well as part of a team, on multiple projects at different levels of completion and meet established deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Nonprofit and Blackbaud experience preferred, but not necessary.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish proficiency is a plus.
  • Willingness to work during evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment that is very diverse
  • Must possess a valid Kansas or Missouri Driver’s license, dependable transportation, current vehicle insurance and a verified safe driving record
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and moving
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Must have the physical ability to make visits to a variety of office locations and environments across the 21-county footprint. 
  • Must have the physical ability to complete assignments in a variety of environments: homes of those we serve, extreme heat, humidity, dust, smoke, pet contamination, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • Must have physical ability to effectively communicate with others
  • Must have the physical ability and appropriate licensure for driving
