JFS proudly serves more than 10,000 people annually, with a breadth of related services including KesherKC (social services and food pantry), Older Adult Services, Mental Health and Education, and Jewish Life including Chaplaincy.
Position: This full-time Adult Therapist is dedicated to serving the diverse needs of clients. They will be employing therapeutic evidence-based practices to address a range of emotional and behavioral needs. The Adult Therapist will have strong clinical skills, in addition to conducting assessments and tailoring individualized treatment plans. They will also foster a collaborative approach to support clients from various backgrounds and experiences.

Essential Duties
- Provide therapy either in-person or virtually
- Administer trauma-informed psychotherapy to clients, both in-person and via teletherapy, including individual, family, and group settings
- Diagnose clients using the DSM-5
- Collaborate with clients to create and monitor individualized treatment plans, update as appropriate
- Complete relevant mental health assessments upon intake and throughout treatment
- Document clinical transactions in a timely manner in an electronic health record
- Collaborate and coordinate with other JFS team members in an interdisciplinary setting
- Establish trust and rapport with clients
- Guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for handling some life situations
- Maintain quantity of direct service hours in accordance with agency expectations
- Staff cases with mental health team members of JFS staff
- Provide necessary referrals to internal and community resources that meet client needs.
- Participate in regular team meetings and JFS staff events
- Maintain confidentiality of records in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Maintain required professional licensure(s), including continuing professional education.
- Operate in alignment with JFS’s client non-discrimination policy
- Dual Missouri license and Kansas license at clinical level preferred
- Clinically licensed practitioner (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, LSCSW, etc.) or become clinically licensed within three years of hire.
- Experience working with diverse, underserved populations in a community setting
- Experience clinically diagnosing clients using the DSM-5
- Demonstrated counseling experience and effective skills using evidence-based modalities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word)
- Experience with timely documentation in client database systems
- Ability to utilize telehealth via secure video conferencing platform
- Human-centered, empathetic, and trauma-informed approach to communication
- Dependable, punctual, and highly organized
- Experience with crisis management and executing safety protocols
- Orientation toward teamwork, including respectful communication
- Effective caseload and time management skills
- Frequently required to sit, stand, talk, and hear
- Required to sit in a therapeutic setting with clients virtually or in person
- Able to work in a communal work environment
- Able to effectively use office equipment such as video conferencing, digital phone system, Windows/Office, printer, copier, and fax machine.
