Family Medicine Physician

Description

To perform professional medical activities as a physician providing acute, chronic and preventative medical care.
Clinical Care Duties:

Makes competent health care diagnosis and treatment decisions.
Supervises health care performed by Nurse Practitioners, Physician’s Assistants, Clinical Pharmacists, and Volunteer Providers, to include being available by telephone to provide back-up and information during normal office hours, when scheduled to work.
Collaborates with members of the multidisciplinary team, including peers and healthcare workers, as needed to meet comprehensive patient needs.
Assists Medical Director in establishing academic medical education affiliations and providing clinical teaching supervision and oversight.
Participates in Peer Reviews
Assists in design, implementation and evaluation of clinical services.
Participates, and may act as Principal or Sub-Investigator, in clinical and other research.
Reviews received laboratory, radiology and consultation reports on all patients in a timely manner.
Provides input to the Quality Improvement program, development and implementation of quality guidelines.
Assist with recruitment and training of physician volunteers.
Works with the management team to improve clinic productivity and to enhance the cost-effectiveness of health services.
Assist other staff in complying with any special conditions of grant awards, rules, regulations or laws.
Attends clinical and organizational meetings.

Communication/Interpersonal:

Communicates patient’s health status accurately in verbal and written reports to appropriate health care providers (i.e. Charge Nurse, providers).
Communicates effectively, courteously and collaboratively with patient, providers, supervisors, and co-workers.
Maintains patient confidentiality.

Service Excellence:

Maintain a positive, helpful attitude to patients, providers and co-workers.
Seek to establish a working relationship with a positive attitude that enhances open communication.
Demonstrate an awareness of and commitment to the common goal of providing excellent patient care.

Adhere to KC CARE Health Center attendance standards.
Utilizes appropriate chain of command

Maintains a professional appearance and good hygiene.

Safety/Risk Management:

Adheres to health center safety, infection control and hazardous waste procedures.
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Provide orientation to new volunteers, students and employees.

Supervisory Duties:

Provides clinical supervision to all mid-level providers, clinical support staff, volunteers and students as applicable.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Requires long periods of standing
Requires ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 35 pounds.
Requires ability to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and reach.
Requires ability to use routine office equipment such as computer and telephone.
Requires ability to comprehend both oral and written communications.
Requires sufficient near-vision to be able to read document and computer screen.
OSHA Category 1: All procedures or other job-related tasks involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues or a potential for spills or splashes of these fluids.
HIPAA Classification: Unrestricted Access: A workforce member with unrestricted access will have full access to patient’s protected health information, including the patient’s entire medical record, for patient care purposes.

Qualifications

Experience and Skills:

Graduate of an approved medical school.
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Missouri.
Board certified or Board eligible in Family Practice or Internal Medical.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
Active Missouri DEA and BNDD Licensure
Ability to relate to a broad and diverse spectrum of the community.
Strong interest in Pediatrics
Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with patients, volunteers and team members.
Ability to work independently and in a professional manner.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks.
Ability to understand and present verbal instructions and to exchange verbal information.
Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with patients, coworkers and others.
Ability to work in Windows based computer environment.
Ability to work at multiple clinical sites as directed including own transportation
