Job Description Summary:
The Digital Media and Marketing Coordinator reports to the Director of Alumni Relations and will cultivate outreach with KU Medical Center alumni, students and constituents by developing strategic communications and digital media content on behalf of the KUMC Alumni Association. This position also plays a key role in planning, facilitating and implementing strategies to solicit, recruit and retain membership amongst our constituents. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $47,500 - $50,000.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, design, marketing or a related area of study or equivalent year to year work experience in related field.

• Three to five years of experience with some combination of digital, mobile, web, social media strategy, digital marketing, etc.

• Excellent writing, editing, storytelling and marketing skills.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and manage competing and shifting priorities.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external constituencies while providing the highest level of customer service.

• Occasional evening and weekend hours are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with email marketing systems.

• Demonstrated experience producing engaging content for social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.

• Experience working with a web content management system, with knowledge of content best practices and accessibility.

• Experience with Google Ads or social media marketing tools.

• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, with demonstrated ability to follow brand standards.

• Experience in alumni and constituent relations, higher education and/or academic medical center.

• Knowledge of membership recruitment strategies, including student programming initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:

Manage and grow the online presence of the KUMC Alumni Association. Implement web content updates to ensure current and accurate information is available to alumni and other constituents. Manage administrative support to ensure that collected data is updated in the database, included in class notes and utilized for alumni spotlight profiles. Elevate the profile of the KUMC Alumni Association and individual alumni through the website, social media channels and digital advertising.

Manage and create content for the KUMC Alumni Association social media accounts, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube. Develop social media strategies that highlights content that meets the mission of the Office of Alumni Relations. Review analytics to assess whether social content achieves goals and supports content strategies. Collaborate with the KUMC Office of Communications for incorporating evaluation and social listening tools for the various social medial channels.

Collaborate with the Administrative Assistant to develop a communications calendar to forecast membership initiatives, event information and outreach efforts. Help strategize and analyze appeals to increase the visibility of Alumni Relations efforts to ensure growth in association membership.

Manage Alumni Relations communications including email announcements, quarterly electronic newsletter, communication with campus community and correspondence with community partners by utilizing our email marketing system. Produce alumni-centered appeals, solicitations and cultivation materials that encourage continued alumni engagement.

Collaborate with KUMC Creative Services and other external vendors to develop compelling visuals for digital channels, marketing materials, event promotions, membership solicitations and other design projects.

Promote student membership in the KUMC Alumni Association. Guide and implement campus-wide student programming projects to increase the visibility of the alumni organization with our student population. Serve as the liaison for the Office of Student Life, lead logistics for student events, and work to increase visibility with the student community.

Provide technical and logistics support for all KUMC Alumni events. Collaborate with the Manager to formulate and execute promotion plans for events and programming. Stay informed of trends in the fields of advancement and communications.

General office duties to include responding to phone inquiries and miscellaneous correspondence with alumni and KUMC internal and external constituencies. Distributing mail, provide back-up assistance for processing alumni dues and deposits.
