Manager of Publications & Design

Come join the team at the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) as their Manager of Publications & Design. This unique opportunity allows you to oversee a variety of areas within communications, marketing, design, publications, and writing.  We are seeking an energetic, driven, self-starter, deadline driven professional to join our team supporting the dual missions of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation.   In this role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to design and publish monthly and yearly publications all while building relationships and serving the legal profession in Kansas City.    

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

  • Strong project management and deadline management skills.
  • The ability to multitask and manage multiple projects at one time, keeping track of cyclical activities and deadlines while taking on new or unanticipated work.
  • A keen eye for design.
  • Verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Planning, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. 
  • The ability to collaborate with colleagues and volunteers to timely incorporate design feedback into the final product.  
  • The ability to work in the office and on PC computers using Windows OS.  
  • Professional integrity and sense of responsibility and accountability. 
  • Excellent communication and editorial skills.
  • A creative mindset with a passion for storytelling.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in journalism, graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in design software. Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) as well as Microsoft products.
  • Experience with print publications is preferred.

ABOUT THE WORK:

You will report to the Director of Operations and be a significant contributor to the success of the KCMBA and its foundation, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation (KCMBF).  

KCMBA offers a full and robust benefit plan including generous holidays and PTO, Health (Medical, Dental and Vision) plans, paid parental leave, 401K match, profit sharing and even a bonus potential.

Salary for this role starts at $60,000 annually. Your salary may vary based on your experience. Offers are contingent upon a background and credit check.

ABOUT KCMBA: KCMBA is the largest and oldest bar association in the Kansas City area. Founded in 1884, KCMBA leverages its rich tradition as a platform to provide current, innovative, and relevant service to its 5,000 members in its nine-county service territory in Missouri and Kansas. KCMBA’s membership includes attorney, judicial, and law student members who make up the core of the Kansas City legal community. This active, voluntary association regularly hosts continuing legal education programs and social events, plans and presents community outreach and pro bono activities, produces the only Directory of the Greater Kansas City Legal Community, as well as a full-color, award-winning monthly magazine the KC Counselor, and much more. KCMBF proudly operates three original community service programs, Military Matters (providing pro bono legal representation for veterans and active duty military), Student Law Academy (providing  paid summer internships and a pipeline to a legal career for students in local underserved high schools), and the Domestic Violence Alliance (providing a platform for interdisciplinary education and collaboration to solve the problems associated with domestic violence).

Salary Range: $50,000 - 74,999
