SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR

 
KCPT is seeking a Social Media Coordinator.  This position is responsible for developing and executing KCPT, Flatland, and The Bridge social media strategy by posting social media content, providing community engagement, and working with staff content creators to share their work with the growing social audience. The Social Media coordinator will create relevant, compelling and engaging content that deepens our relationship with the audience across relevant platforms. Demonstrate a genuine passion for Social Media and an understanding of the latest news/trends in the digital media space.
Job functions include:
  • Create brand appropriate content to post daily across all social channels.
  • Help build and maintain a brand voice and tone across platforms.
  • Engage with community and develop original content that is aligned to the KCPT brands.
  • Publish in real time and schedule content where appropriate.
  • Work with Creative Director to develop and implement social media strategies for KCPT, Flatland, and 90.9 The Bridge.
  • Grow KCPT, Flatland, and 90.9 The Bridge’s social media audience.
  • Manage content calendars for social media platforms.
  • Manage and edit the creation of social media posts by KCPT and Flatland producers, journalists and contractors.
  • Manage contract employees hired to work on social media 
  • Keep organized and accurate analytics for grants with social media requirements.
  • Coordinate with digital team to enhance sharing of KCPT digital content.
  • Research and experiment with new ways to build engagement through social media.
  • Create and execute staff training plan for social media content creation.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with social media team at PBS.
Qualified candidates will possess the following:
  • One to three years of professional social media experience and the ability to provide examples of a robust, personal social media portfolio.
  • Generally love pop-culture, technology and stays up-to-date with trends in the social media and marketing industries.
  • Acknowledge that the scope of social media falls outside normal business hours.
  • Must be an excellent writer.
  • Basic understanding of SEO as it relates to blogs, videos and websites.
  • Some photography/videography, editing skills a plus.
  • Some graphic design capability a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing or a related field preferred.
  • Familiar with social media analytic and management tools such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Facebook business manager, Creator Studio and Insights, Twitter and Google analytics.
  • Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
