Technical Production Director

Country Club Christian Church is seeking a Technical Production Director with extensive audio, video, lighting (AVL) experience, and command of business level IT for ongoing operational support. This full-time position will work under the leadership of the Director of Media and Technology to oversee and implement progressive, industry-leading level audio/visual production for all digital ministry including worship services, classes, and other events (75-90% of time) as well as manage and support other in-house technology needs (10-25% of time). For the right candidate, the job could be ¾ time.
 
This position will be pivotal in the development of digital ministry through the use of innovative and effective distributed platforms, and recruiting and leading volunteer AVL staff and managing expectations of this team and systems.
 
Skills/Talents Needed

  • Proactive approach to building infrastructure for AV production and IT
  • Ability to work independently and proactively to manage projects and use  technology to create and support the vision, goals, and activities of the church
A/V Production Responsibilities (75-90% of time)
  • Oversee or function as producer of Sunday Worship services (including all pre-produced worship services), weddings/funerals and weekly digital ministries (youth, children, adult education, music etc.)
  • Responsible for technical components for all services and digital ministries (including, sound, lights, video, and IT)
  • Manage all system support (AVL and IT) for all services including the operation and maintenance of all gear
  • Ensure recording and/or broadcast of worship services, classes, podcasts, and events 
  • Develop and oversee network-based technologies (i.e. streaming, among others)
  • Plan, design, and install equipment upgrades/enhancements
  • Recruit, lead, schedule and provide ongoing comprehensive training and development of volunteer members for operation of AVL
  • Run “Front of House” (FOH) or other positions in the team when volunteers are not available to serve
  • Oversee big picture planning for the production department
  • Ensure proper video capture framing for message and worship broadcast/recording as defined by leadership
  • Capture (AV) and edit all content required to be included in desired pre-recorded and live broadcasts
  • Work with the Director of Media and Technology to develop new initiatives for enhanced digital ministry
  • Serve on the Worship Planning Team
  • Serve as a resource to other staff members
  • Develop and track the technical ministry’s budget along with proposals for fundraising
  • Recruit and manage paid and volunteer staff in the technical ministry
  • Attend staff meetings and functions as directed
IT Responsibilities (10-25% of time)
  • Oversee hardware and software maintenance and infrastructure as staff liaison  to contracted technology support company 
  • Manage data storage and set policy and protocols 
  • Proactively train staff to use available technology efficiently
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in audio engineering, live and recorded video, lighting, social media platforms, A/V technology
  • Extensive experience with hardware/software broadcast mixing systems (especially Blackmagic, DataVideo, vMix or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience with AV software (especially Final Cut Pro X, Logic, Pro Tools, or related)
  • Demonstrated experience in creating/mixing quality sound in musically demanding environments (theater, classical/jazz music concerts, church, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated experience with multitrack recording (live and studio) 
  • Demonstrated experience in video production, filming, editing 
  • Problem solving abilities and adaptability 
  • Experience as a Team Leader and/or Production Manager
  • Experience leading or discipling a volunteer/ministry team
  • Broad experience working with a variety of AVL equipment (Pro camcorders, DSLR, mirrorless, mics, cabling, etc.)
  • Extensive experience with both Mac and Windows support
  • A team player with strong communication and leadership skills
  • Creativity and attention to details
Education and Experience
  • Formal education is not a predetermining factor for the selection of the Director of Technical Production, however, it is likely that a candidate will have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in Digital Media Production or closely related field
  • 5+ years of audio engineering, filming, editing, and IT
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Outcome based evaluation and reporting skills
  • Demonstrated success in managing technology in a business environment including maintaining accurate records and data collection
  • Broad-based knowledge in supporting workplace technology needs including hardware (laptops, PC’s, scanners, copiers, security cameras, etc.), software, remote staff support, networking, vpn, data backups, etc.
Schedule and Hours
  • 40+ hours per week (flexible to ¾ time) including Saturday, Sunday and week night events (as needed)
