Crisis Response Advocate                                                     Non-Exempt #73-001-FT-CRA
 
Rose Brooks Center, a non-profit domestic violence agency seeks a full-time, non-exempt Crisis Response Advocate, who will report to the Bridge Program Manager. Rose Brooks Center’s shelter is a low barrier and voluntary program.  The Crisis Response Advocate (CRA) works in an office, hospital, and clinic environment with limited local travel and must be able to be onsite within 30 minutes of a dispatch call for the Bridge program.
 
The CRA is responsible for providing survivor-centered, accessible, trauma informed, and culturally competent crisis advocacy to survivors of domestic violence.  Primary responsibilities include providing after-hours crisis intervention and advocacy services to survivors referred through the Bridge Program and law enforcement as well as to hotline callers; and providing after-hours operational support of the shelter. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to safety planning, preparing and filing Emergency Ex Parte Orders of Protection, operating and monitoring the security system, promoting utilization of the Bridge Program, and maintaining accurate documentation of services.   This position will support the mission and values of the agency, collaborate across programs within the agency and within multidisciplinary teams, as well as within systems external to the agency.  Visit www.rosebrooks.org for more information.

  1. Perform all job responsibilities while demonstrating proficiency in all RBC Competencies and a commitment to the overall mission of Rose Brooks Center.
  2. Perform functions of job according to agency policies and procedures.
  3. Participate in all required trainings and optional trainings as directed.
  4. Attend required/scheduled staff, team and supervision meetings including those that occur outside of normal work hours.
  5. Perform all job responsibilities utilizing the principles of trauma informed care, accessibility, and cultural competency.
  6. Maintain awareness about the risks of secondary trauma and understand one’s own responsibility of self-care.
  7. This position requires carrying a pager.
 
Qualifications:
Required Skills/Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a residential setting or crisis intervention role.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience providing culturally competent services to a diverse client group including at-risk populations.
  • Ability to provide services according to Rose Brooks Center’s Values, Beliefs, and Philosophies.
  • Proven ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team and interact with external agencies.
  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills
  • Ability to perform computer skills (including MS office, database, and security software)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and reliable transportation.
  • Due to specific hospital requirements, candidate must be able to provide proof of immunizations or be able to obtain a blood test to verify immunization.  This also includes an annual flu shot with verification.
 
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
  • One year experience in providing domestic violence advocacy and/or case management services.
  • Knowledge and experience in trauma informed care and dynamics of domestic violence.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish / English – both written and verbal.
  • Healthcare experience

  • Ability to see computer screen, read, and complete forms
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to the waist
  • Ability to sit, walk, and stand primarily indoors, but some outdoors for regular periods of time

  • Ability to transport (drive) residents on occasion
  • Ability to answer phone calls in a busy environment (hear callers and be responsive)
  • Ability to use standard cleaning supplies

  • Ability to recognize trauma exposure/secondary trauma for self and implement self-care plan

Other:
  • Exposure to animals (primarily dogs and cats).
                                                   
Hours: Full-time, non-exempt position scheduled a minimum of 40 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Friday, 4pm to 12am.  This position is required to work some holidays.
