The mission of the Kansas Alliance for the Arts in Education (KSAAE) is to ensure that the arts are an integral part of quality Pre-K-12 education to promote students’ personal development and academic performance.

Position Summary

KSAAE is seeking an experienced Executive Director who can help realize our ongoing vision as the leading state arts advocacy and programming organization. This position requires a dynamic, mission-driven individual who is committed to operational and programmatic success through collaboration with K-12 educators and stakeholders. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for KSAAE's programs, fundraising, and execution of our mission.

Fundraising & Donor Relations

  • Expand revenue-generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and expansion 

  • Ensure the KSAAE meets reporting requirements/application deadlines for new and existing grant opportunities

  • Build relationships to garner new opportunities

  • Lead the grants process by researching available grant options, maintaining strong relationships with grant providers, maintaining a grant calendar, and managing independent grant opportunities

  • Provide operational leadership in the management of the KSAAE membership program with the board

  • Lead communications with current and potential donors through segmentation/cultivation/relationship building alongside the board of directors

  • Create annual fundraising plans and manage all events/activities

Arts Education Programming 

  • Lead the effective day-to-day operations of the KSAAE in collaboration with the Alliance’s Executive Board

  • Oversee the successful management of programs and contracts 

  • Support the creation, planning, and implementation of programs and services with the Board of Director Committees

  • Maintain a working knowledge of developments/trends in the field of arts education research and arts integration best practices

 

Community Relations & Advocacy

  • Establish an effective public relations strategy through all communications channels and be the organization’s spokesperson to raise community awareness of the KSAAE mission and programs/activities

  • Effectively communicate measurable outcomes for all programs/activities to the community 

  • Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with policymakers and relevant community organizations to help achieve the vision and goals of the KSAAE

  • Be an external local and national presence that publishes and communicates program results with an emphasis on the successes of existing programs as a model for regional and national replication

Financial Planning & Management 

  • Maintain the financial health of the organization

  • Regularly provide the Board with comprehensive reporting on the KSAAE’s financials 

  • Lead the preparation of the annual operating budget

  • Oversee the annual compilation and tax return with outside accountants 

Leadership

  • Determine and maintain current organizational charts reflecting roles and responsibilities to support KSAAE programs and activities

  • Lead by developing, training, and managing a high-performance team culture for continued growth and enthusiasm

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with the Board; provide timely and accurate information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A track record of effectively leading a regionally and/or nationally outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth

  • Strong interpersonal skills for our collaborative approach to programs and activities across the organization

  • Experience in grant writing and fundraising strategies 

  • Experience with digital communications platforms

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 

  • 5+ years of nonprofit management experience and a passionate commitment to arts education 

 

 


 

LOGISTICS: 

       Status: Full time, exempt employee; Occasional nights and weekends required

Reports: Reports to the Board of Directors 

Supervises: Independent Contractors

Salary range: $40,000-42,000
