Senior Manager of Individual and Corporate Giving - Funds Development

JOB SUMMARY:
       Responsible for the planning, goal-setting, strategy development, implementation, evaluation and securing major individual and corporate gifts across entire service area for Harvesters.  Develops long-term positive donor relationships as part of Harvesters’ Strategic Plan, with dual emphasis on individual and corporate funding sources to meet a significant portion of Harvesters’ fundraising goals.
 
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.       Lead and support a team of professionals in executing ongoing annual, major donor, fundraising programs and strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and recognize individual and corporate financial contributors.
2.       Develop and execute annual and multi-year fund development plans, goals, and strategies in partnership with the Director of Development and the Chief Resource Officer.
3.       Plan, implement and evaluate major gifts fundraising strategies and opportunities to acquire, cultivate, renew and increase support of major gift prospects and solicit major and multi-year gifts. Work closely with Director of Development to assign, cultivate, and solicit major donor prospects.
4.       Manage major gift portfolio (75-90) with prospective and current corporate donors and sell into Harvesters “menu of options” for corporate engagement.
5.       Responsible to create, lead and implement moves management strategy for both corporate donors and individual donors including to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward at the five and six-figure levels by utilizing a thorough understanding of Harvesters Initiatives/Priorities as well as priorities of Feeding America.
6.       Work collaboratively with Harvesters’ staff in other departments to manage relationships with donors relevant to those who give to Harvesters through multiple avenues (time, food, voice). Be a professional advisor across departments.
7.       Work collaboratively with and in support of volunteers and Harvesters staff to cultivate and solicit corporate and individual donors.
8.       Represent the department and Harvesters to donors and the public through visits, written and phone communications. Represent Harvesters at national conferences as necessary.
9.       Manage planning, personnel, and budgeting in area of responsibility as well as working with Director of Development to track progress to goal for area of responsibility.
10.    Other duties as assigned.

5.       Able to multi-task and collaborate with others to achieve goals in a busy office environment.
6.       Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills with individuals and large groups are essential.
7.       Have a commitment to the mission of Harvesters.
8.       Produces high quality and effective products with limited resources.
9.      This position functions in an office environment and requires local travel in the service area.  It requires the use of general office equipment such as computers, copiers, cameras, fax machines and automobiles. 
10.  Some evening hours are required.  It requires daily extensive writing and public speaking.  Work venues vary from office, to social events, to presentations, to large and small meetings and interactions with individuals, involving a variety of environments.
11.    Incumbent will spend 40% of the time stationary working at a computer terminal, and 60% of the time in a car, talking on the telephone, visiting face-to-face with donors and/or in a warehouse environment. 
12.    This position requires an understanding of all Harvesters food safety policies and compliance with all food safety related procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.       Required Experience and Skills
·         Minimum five (5) years of development experience, utilizing a variety of cultivation and solicitation techniques.
·         Minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role.
·         Ability to take initiative, coordinate with others, meet deadlines and follow through in a fast-paced environment.
·         Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, presentation and networking skills.
·         Computer literacy with experience in Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Office and internet research
·         Experience with nonprofit fund raising software, Raiser’s Edge experience a plus.
2.       Preferred Experience
·         5-7 years documented success in sales and/or fundraising at the $10,000 level or higher, especially working with and targeted to corporate partnerships and individual donor support.
·         5-7 years managerial experience
·         Ability to manage, motivate, and mentor staff in a team environment to produce measured results.
·         Experience with  Kansas City’s philanthropic community
·         Experience with Non-profit fundraising software. (Raiser’s Edge or equivalent)
·         Knowledge of food banking industry
 
3.       Required Education
·         Bachelors degree in English or Business or other equivalent field.
4.       Preferred Education
·         Masters degree in Nonprofit Management or related field
