SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This person will be responsible for member communications, recruitment, and coordination of AAFP National Research Network (NRN) relationships with members, collaborators, and stakeholders. The individual will lead the development and implementation of communications, strategies, and plans, including communications related to promotions, messaging, conferences and event presence. This person will also be expected, in collaboration with other individuals and divisions within AAFP, to be the NRN’s “point person” in developing and overseeing a comprehensive set of promotional strategies to build awareness and engagement for the NRN. The person will support strategic planning and activities to advance the NRN’s research agenda. Additionally, this person is responsible for managing the engagement of NRN members and collaborators, for vetting of and participation in the development of research opportunities, and other administrative activities regarding membership initiatives to track research engagement and productivity for the AAFP NRN. This person will be involved in research grant preparation and other research preparatory activities and will be responsible for effective processes to support specific grant activities.
 
Other duties as assigned.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or knowledge acquired through equivalent work experience, plus a minimum of four years’ experience in a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of the medical or healthcare field and experience with communication platforms required.
  • Demonstrated experience in medical/health/research writing. Experience in preparation of scientific articles and Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) applications preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and motivate, teach, and lead when appropriate.
  • Experience with managing relationships across diverse internal and external stakeholders preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and as a team player who can work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extremely detail oriented and organized.
  • Excellent written and oral communications are essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
