The Mission Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Mission, Kansas that provides individualized supports for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live independently and productively in community. Programming services include individual sessions with participants, facilitation of group programming, and oversight of enrichment activities and contracted program providers.
The Mission Project is seeking a Part-Time Program Director to work in groups and individually with adults with various intellectual and developmental disabilities to provide enhanced independent living skills. This position offers flexibility in work schedule; a few hours on some weeknights and Sunday afternoons required. Strong candidates for this position would include those experienced in working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, possess exceptional organizational skills, and those who bring creativity and energy into their work life. The Program Director is a salaried position of $32,000/year for 24 hours per week.
General position expectations include:
Facilitates weekly problem solving and social development groups.
Annual review/goal setting and monthly check-ins with individual participants.
Manage program enrollment, outcome data, and oversee schedule of appropriate facilities and volunteers.
Collaboration and coordination of services with participants’ other providers, PCAs and families.
Administering and improving existing programming, and development and implementation of new
Assists in improving policies and procedures that affect daily life of participants.
Assists in screening applicants for admissions with orientation upon admission.
Behavioral assessment, modification, support, intervention and monitoring.
Provide guidance to families, as needed, in family-run enrichment programming for the participants.
Conduct open office hours to assist participants with individual needs and socialization.
Maintain relationship with Occupational Therapy and Social Work programs at Rockhurst and KU, and/or foster
new such relationships. Mentor and supervise student interns.
- Coordination of contracted employees for additional programming.
- Provide program updates to member community, Board and staff. Attend committee meetings as needed.
- Master’s Degree in social work, special education, psychology, occupational therapy, or related fields. Bachelor’s Degree in same fields also accepted with commensurate experience.
- Related experience required in providing direct service to adults with special needs, particularly services and activities to enhance daily independent living and social skills.
- Competent in the following technologies: MS Office, Google Suite, Zoom, SM platforms.
