Youth Program Coordinator

BACKGROUND

The Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council (INC) was organized in 1967 and re-organized in 1997 as a 501 (c)(3) organization with a mission to build a “clean, beautiful, safe, and thriving neighborhood.” INC represents approximately 6,100 residents and has become one of Kansas City, Missouri’s most dynamic examples of a strong resident-led organization. Youth development, community outreach, and community engagement is the cornerstone of the organization’s strategic planning and ability to implement over 100 community change initiatives to date. 
Type of Work
  • Part-time flexible position
  • 20 hours a week
  • Work will be performed both in the Ivanhoe office and in the community
 
Major Duties
  • Provide coordination and support for instructors in the after school and summer program
  • Facilitate weekly STEM-focused classes for children in programs after school, summer, and the annual holiday celebration.
  • Collect and maintain key data sources (i.e., authorization and waiver forms, surveys, assessments, attendance and sign in sheets, etc.); prepare and submit activity reports
  • Attend professional and youth development training as required
  • Assists with outreach and engagement of children and youth in programs, parents and caregivers, and program instructors
  • Other duties as assigned  
Requirements
  • Must be 21 years of age or older with properly licensed vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Associates degree or 2 years equivalent related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to relate to youth and families from a variety of cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds especially in low-income neighborhood environments
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish preferred
