Youth Development Coordinator

The Mattie Rhodes Center provides a holistic approach to individual and family well-being through social services, mental health counseling and the arts.  Our staff provides culturally competent programming in the following four areas:
• Family Services (behavioral health, family violence, substance abuse)
• Youth Services (in-school intervention, youth development, supportive living)
• Community Support (health and wellness, community engagement)
• Cultural Arts (arts education, exhibits and collections)
 
Mattie Rhodes is a fully bilingual/bicultural state-certified behavioral health care provider in the Greater Kansas City region, and is state-certified in intensive outpatient substance abuse therapy.
 .
The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for providing effective, quality youth development programming. This position supervises Youth Development staff in the implementation of applicable school, agency, youth-development and grant regulations/standards in all programming; assists in record keeping for grant and evaluation purposes, facilitates partnerships with schools and other public and private agencies to recruit participants, and engages families. In addition, this position provides youth development services/activities to participants and in other agency-related youth programming and events as needed.
 
Responsibilities:
Provides consistent supervision to Youth Development – Recreation Staff and ensures participation in scheduled Youth & Young Adult Services Team Meetings; Monitor budgets, equipment and inventory for accuracy; Complete required annual professional development; Contribute to marketing and public relations efforts.
 
 Minimum Qualifications:
§ Bachelor’s degree (BA, BFA) or equivalent
§ One or more years’ experience working with children, youth and young adults in out-of-school time or other teaching environments with diverse, urban populations.
§ Passion for youth sports and/or Health & Wellness
§ Supervisory experience; ability to motivate others to work as part of a team; flexibility and the ability to work independently.
§ Computer Literate: MS Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
§ Must possess a valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation to program sites, clean driving record and obtain a CDL for the purpose of transporting youth development program participants to designated activities.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
§ Bilingual language ability (English/Spanish)

Salary Range: $30,000 - 49,999
