Since 1975 Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) has been an essential part of the Kansas City metro.  Our mission is to improve the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault, and to prevent sexual violence in our community.

Organize and build capacity of community-based sexual violence intervention and prevention efforts in the greater Kansas City area.



  1. Supervision
    1. Recruit, train and supervise Prevention Specialists, interns, and volunteers.
  2. Program Coordination & Development
    1. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other professionals and organizations to expand primary prevention outreach program services.
    2. Listen and respond to customer needs and concerns.
      Provide assistance with oversight of data collection and reporting.
    3. Assist with program development and grant reporting.
  3.  Leadership
    1. Provide leadership and assistance with organizational committees and projects. Promote collaboration with and among the community.
    2. Organize, plan, and implement annual activities including Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month and other activities as identified.
  4. Education
    1. Facilitate sexual assault and sexual abuse education and prevention programs to youth and adult community members.
    2. Inform victims of sexual violence of their rights and services available to them.
    3. Perform outreach activities through contact with community partners.
    4. Represent MOCSA at community events and meetings.  
  5. Crisis Intervention
    1. Provide crisis intervention, hospital advocacy, and volunteer management for survivors of sexual assault and abuse during business hours and afterhours when on-call.

The responsibilities described represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to do all assigned responsibilities. Grant funds may only be used for the provision of approved activities.



Minimum Qualifications

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a human-services related field and three years of experience in program coordination or equivalent combination of education and experience. The position also requires one year of experience in crisis intervention or customer service, violence prevention, team leadership, program development, and public speaking.


Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in a human-services related field.  Experience working with diverse communities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication, strong attention to detail, and organizational and problem-solving skills. Experience with community mobilization, grants, and quality assurance.

Physical Demands

Work is typically performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve non-routine and complex problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions; and interact with faculty, staff, administration, funders, and others encountered in the course of work.



This is a full-time position; business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.



Frequent travel throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area to perform program coordination duties.



The salary range for this position is $50,000 – $65,000 DOE.  Full time benefits include 15 days of vacation, 13 paid holidays, 12 sick days, birthday holiday, winter break, 89% employer covered health insurance, 100%  employer paid dental, life, and long-term disability Insurance, and 2% 403(b) match.
