Homeless Program Coordinator Job Description
 
The Greater Kansas City Coalition to End Homelessness (GKCCEH) is the HUD-designated lead agency for the MO-604 Continuum of Care (CoC) comprising Jackson and Wyandotte counties. GKCCEH is seeking a well-rounded, reliable individual to serve as a Homeless Program Coordinator. The Homeless Program Coordinator will play an integral role in streamlining the Coordinated Entry System process. The position works closely with the data team and service providers to coordinate appropriate referrals and compile data using the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). The position will also support the CES staff with administrative duties in the areas of outreach, development, policy, and planning. 

Competitive candidates must have experience working respectfully with people in crisis who may have multiple complex needs including but not limited to domestic violence, alcohol, and drug addiction, mental health, poverty, disability, and homelessness. 

Driving is necessary for business. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Work hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the clientele if needed.

Essential Functions:
The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by the Coordinated Entry Diversion Specialist, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. This staff member may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
? Manages the community By-Name List (BNL)
? Facilitates CES prioritization meetings
? Collaborates with community stakeholders to ensure successful referrals
? Refers clients to navigators and housing liaisons to streamline housing process
? Manages the process of referring clients to appropriate projects with vacancies
? Provides reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the Executive Director and Board of Directors informed of the operation 
? Enters data into HMIS or other databases
? Participates in community homeless street outreach as needed
? Attends all required annual trainings
? Participates in community meetings
? Complies with all CoC Coordinated Entry System policies and procedures
? Ensures eligibility criteria for various services are met
? Provides community by-name-list status updates to households waiting for referrals to
services
Uses a trauma-informed, person-centered framework when conducting professional
conversations
? Provides ongoing updates and feedback to the community regarding the Coordinated Entry System
? Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
? Working knowledge of Google and Microsoft platforms
? Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality
? Ability to be flexible and work in a continuously changing environment
? Ability to establish and cultivate professional relationships
? Ability to provide quality customer service
? Ability to work with a unique client population in challenging situations in and out of
traditional office environments
? Ability to have flexible days/hours to meet the needs of the clientele

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
? Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and
experience
? Experience working in the Coordinated Entry System
? Previous experience with case management, completing assessments/intakes.
? Knowledge of homeless assistance and community service programs and the special needs of homeless populations.
? Lived experience of homelessness is not mandatory but will be considered as an advantage.

Proven skill in working independently; organizing and prioritizing work; excellent written and verbal communication; using a computer and related software applications; building
relationships; exercising good judgment and effective decision-making; sensitivity to changing situations; planning, developing, and managing programs and/or events; evaluating program effectiveness; preparing and maintaining policies and procedures; communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
